audio and party are playing through different channels

Settings - General - Video and Audio - Party chat output - Headset.

Besides this turning the volume down all the way on your Tv should solve the problem!

nope doesnt work. Im going to describe my problem in greater detail. Im in a party with my friends but i can only hear them in my headset. The game audio is going through the tv and not the headset.

Some games also have that system in settings and for example Sea of Thieves have a different mixer in-game. Did you check the game settings in audio settings if is any configurated there.

I use and a adapter, but there is no option to change the mixer between game and party audio. Also, its not just games that do this, its on the home screen too.

There is a mixer for sound settings, if you hit the guide button it then over in the settings tab there should be the audio settings. If you go into those there are sliders you can slide and you need to slide the slider more towards the game side. If you
have an adapter these settings will not show up and will need to be done through the adapter
