Attaching child's Xbox live account to his Avatar

Hi. So, I believe I have created an XBOX Live (free one) child account for my son using the pc and also set my own account as the parent. My next thought was that I should then be able to attach this new account to his avatar on the XBOX, but I can't see
anywhere that lets me do this. The new account seems to have a blank default avatar associated with it (no achievements etc). Have I misunderstood the whole 'child' account thing or is there a way to connect his child account, and its restrictions, to his
XBOX avatar.

Any help would be much appreciated.

That's where I've been trying to change the Microsoft Account from, the child's Xbox Live account on his console.

I need to link my child's xbox live account to my account so I can update his settings. I can't figure out where to go...

 

Hi,

The Xbox avatar is linked to the Xbox Live child account, so the restrictions that you apply to his Xbox Live Account are automatically applied to his Xbox Avatar.

Hi Alpha. Thanks for taking the time to reply. My problem is that I don't think the child account is linked to his avatar. The avatar has been on the Xbox for ages and I created his account using my laptop. I don't see anywhere that has linked the two
together. The points accumulated on his avatar and his character design are not present when I log into his Xbox account on the pc, which makes me think they are not connected. Was I expecting too much to find an option on his Xbox avatar that says 'Link
to Xbox Live Account'?

 

The avatar on the console would be an entirely separate account than the one you created on your laptop. There is no way to merge accounts.
