    I have xbox one x connected to a vizio atmos soundbar via hdmi in, which is the only way it works since my tv doesn't have atmos pass through besides native apps. It was working fine before with atmos games like Resident evil 2 and netflix but now cant select.
    I dont use headphones ever. I went into audio settings and it changed itself to 7.1 uncompressed but i have a 5.1 so i changed it back to Bitstream. Tv is set the same. Then if i select atmos for home theater, it gives a popup telling me to download the dolby
    app and pay for it for headphone atmos but i dont want that nor did I select that, i want it on my home theater. The headphone is set to sonic by default. Ive tried changing settings but keep getting prompt to pay for dolby app which is ridiculous. A primary
    reason for buying the console was atmos in games and now im not getting it on top of frequent game and console freezing. Did they suddenly start charging for a feature thats supposed to be free or is this a glitch?There's absolutely no way my one x can even
    run with dolby app open and a game, as games crashes when anything other than the game open, even game capture. Even if i selct to download console asks to update Microsoft store infinitely but never does. My internet speed is wired and plenty fast so thats
    not the cause. I cant even select atmos as its locked behind a paywall. Ive reset everything and no change. Looks like many others are having similar problem but support is locking the questions on here mere weeks after its added with no fix which isnt even
    enough time for people to find the issue I've cleared cache, hard reset, nothing works. Its dolby charging for a free feature i cant even use atmos to stream now making the console useless and may return

    Did you download the Dolby Access app? While you only need to pay for use with headphones, you may be able to set up Atmos for home theaters with the app.

    So after following up with the Dolby Access support team, apparently games aren't supported on home theater, only on headphones:

    "Unfortunately, Games encoded with Dolby Atmos audio are not compatible with Dolby Atmos for Home Theater, as they are specifically configured for Dolby Atmos for Headphones. If the content you are experiencing is not compatible with the app you are
    using, then audio will cease, or will simply output as regular stereo output.

    To clarify, Dolby Atmos for Home Theater is included at no charge with any Dolby Atmos supported hardware, such as a receiver or Xbox One X, and is used to activate Dolby Atmos features via HDMI connection for a Dolby Atmos certified AVR, soundbar,
    or TV."

    "Unfortunately, the version of Dolby Atmos included with your Xbox is Dolby Atmos for Home Theater, which is not compliant with any gaming content."

    It kind of strikes me as hard to believe, or that this won't be addressed, but that's what they're saying for now. That said, it still isn't working for me for Netflix content either, so I'm going continue troubleshooting with them and see what's doable
    and what's not. Fingers crossed.

    you need to purchase the Dolby access app that contains the Atmos license, you can get a demo of it to make sure it will work for you
    Thank you I’ll check out the app later. Is the headset app purchase in the Dolby app? I can’t see which to purchase and in the Dolby app they said my system Dolby atmos for home theater is ready and turned on checked .
