Astroneer missing save games

    Astroneer missing save games


    XBOX Game Pass for PC.

    I logged in to Astroneer a few days ago and my save games were all missing. Any idea what happened? I just finished the initial quests for BOO. I have been playing this save for many hours and have unlocked all of the research.
    I am not looking forward to starting over ... if I do. Any idea what happened to my saves and how to get them back?

Sorry about that!
This is typically due to a de-sync with Xbox cloud saves - on the Microsoft Store and Xbox, saves are backed up on the cloud automatically and sometimes there can be a hiccup.
Usually the easiest fix is to reinstall the game, which tends to force it to pull your saves from the cloud. If that doesn't work, my next recommendation would be to reach out to Xbox support,
as they'd be able to check out your cloud storage to see if something went weird:

    Game Pass Ultimate

    Play anywhere games sync data so its a simple load and the data is the same. I can play Astroneer on either console or PC and it is the same save game that just sync's.

    WHERE is Astroneer game installed and located, I mean not the save files, the game installation location is unknown? Why Astroneer is not located in the C:\XboxGames root folder?

    Save data goes here:

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\SystemEraSoftworks.29415440E1269_ftk5pbg2rayv2\SystemAppData\wgs

    If your game isn't in C:\XboxGames folder, it would be in the WindowsApps folder. But that still wouldn't be where your save files ago. In any case, most GamePass games are encrypted. However, save files and config files are not and are located elsewhere.

    I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with Astroneer.

    If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could answer the following questions.

    - May I ask which Xbox model you are using?
    - Is this happening with other games besides Astroneer?
    - Do you get any error codes/messages when this happens?
    - May I ask if you already tried deleting your local data for this game and have it resynced from the cloud? like this

    For all games:
    - Go to Settings > System > Storage > Clear local save data

    For this game only:
    - Go to My games and apps > Astroneer > Manage game & add-ons > Saved data > Select your profile > Delete from the console.
