Astro A50 Halo Edition & Covert Forces 3.5MM Jack Controller Question?

I just purchased an Astro A50 Halo Limited Edition Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Sound Wireless Headset. It's currently being shipped, my question is the USB port on the bottom of my Covert Forces controller is broken and it's past the warranty stage with Microsoft
and I never purchased an extra warranty which was a bad mistake and I learned from it. The Astro A50 requires to be connected to the controller for Xbox Live Chat and I'm wondering if the 3.5mm jack on the bottom of the controller would work for chat only?
My only other controller is the older model controller that came with my Assassin's Creed Unity 500GB bundle model, but the vibration is so bad in it it almost breaks any immersion I get in games. Since I spent so much in games and first the Turtle Beach 500X
which is decent, but not great like I thought it would be and now the Astro A50 I am so broke I can't afford another controller right now. To clarify the entire controller works except the USB port on the bottom of the controller. If not then I can just skip
voice chat until later down the line when I can get another controller.

New Xbox one Controller D pad issues

Just bought a covert forces controller with the 3.5mm jack, pressing left on the d-pad requires a lot more force than the other directions

 

I am pretty sure it needs the USB. My girlfriend's son has the A40 and it has an interface that plugs into the bottom of the controller for the mixer. That is your mute, volume, balance and audio mode controls and it has to connect to a working USB for power
and interface. Maybe you can borrow a controller from a friend till u can replace yours?

 

I have some good news I read on Gamespot that an Xbox One bug fixing update for the system was released today. I installed it, restarted again after it finished applying the update. After all that I plugged in my old stereo headset with the included adapter
after a lot of hoping the update seemed to have fixed my problem. I previously downloaded the first update released after the NXOE OS and dropping the controller on the carpet that night before going to bed and a day or two later l lost all audio game, chat,
etc only sound I heard was the beep saying you're at max volume or whichever and I thought I broke it even though the USB doesn't look damaged. I haven't received my A50 yet to test, not until tomorrow, as it's still going through the process of getting to
me. I double checked the stereo adapter I mentioned was working by turning off the controller and on about 10 times I also did a full restart. I hope the new update can fix bugs going on for you. I'm going to update this thread to let you know for sure the
A50 chat adapter thingie works. Might not be until monday though because of company.

 

GREAT NEWS! I finally received my Astro A50 Halo edition and tested the MIC out after updating it and setting it up to the console and the USB port on the controller and OMG it works perfectly plus the headset itself is the best sounding headset I have EVER
used, even better than my Razer Krakon Pro connected to my laptop with Razer Surround Pro set to max everything. I have used 4 other headsets before getting my first Astro brand being the A50 Halo edition. The 4 were Microsoft Stereo Headset, Turtle Beach
XO ONE, Turtle Beach XO FOUR Stealth, and finally Turtle Beach Stealth 500X all 3 Turtle Beaches were a HUGE dissapointment. The Stereo headset from Microsoft is alot better than all 3 Turtle Beach's, allthough no where near the sheer power of the audio quality,
build quality, MIC quality, and comfort of the Astro A50 Halo edition. I have never heard of Astro until a few weeks ago, and I really don't think I will ever buy another Turtle Beach again, I am an Astro fan now.

 

When you wear out the Astro's Check out Sennheiser. They make PC headsets but you can use them on a console if you have an Astro Mixamp. The Mic quality is ok on Astro's but not the best. I use a Sennheiser Game One with my Astro Mixamp Pro. The Mic
quality on the Senns rivals most stand mics and the depth of sound produced is so much better than Astro. Astro's do get very loud, but they are kinda lacking in the Bass.
