  1. Astro A50 Gen 3 causes interference with xbox one controllers

    Hi peeps.

I'm currently in talks with xbox and astro on this problem. Astro won't even admit that there at fault and I'm still awaiting a reply from xbox (they are currently speaking with their specialists).

I bought a Astro A50 Gen 3 for xbox one just over 2 months ago now. Seemed fine, had some issues but never seemed that major, until I tried using the xbox (I had recently moved it so it was completely unplugged).

I now have constant interference issues with the controller/Astro headset. I have tried this on 4 different consoles with the same results. (Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X and I'm using Project Scorpio)

Either the headset disconnects and requires a full power cycle (unplug the power cable and plug back in) which breaks your party chat. Or the control would disconnect and not reconnect unless you power cycle the console or headset.

I work in IT so know my way around tech products and have found that the headset channel (145-165) is the same as the xbox controllers. This has made the headset completely useless while my xbox is plugged in (it will always search for controllers even when
they are wired or the console is off)

Is anyone currently experiencing the same issue? As I did a google and have seen that this seems to be a problem that Astro will not address.

I'm mostly looking for people who know they have this issue so I can build a case to show that they need to fix this as I'm sure it would count as False Advertising.

For those wondering what my setup is. I have the headset plugged into my gaming pc so that I can stream and record using xbox app and use a Project Scorpio. NO there are no other wifi products interfering. And yes I have tried it plugged into the xbox with
the same result. I also tried it at my brother in laws (control disconnected instead, presume this was because the xbox was in a cupboard).

    Regards.

    Lawrence

    Hi Steve.

Seems you might have a similar issue.

Their is currently no way to fix it yourself and Astro will just deny it.

The best solution for you is to send it back for refund and get a different headset (first try everything with the headset I completely off and disconnected it make sure its that)

As you will not get a refund for interference.

I would contact astro or whoever's you purchased then from and see if you can return without any questions (Astro allow refunds for products less than a month after receipt for people who generally don't like them)

For future reference. I have stopped speaking to Astro and have moved onto using logitech headsets.

    Still awaiting reply from xbox.

I'm having the exact same issue with ps4. Just purchased a new A50 a few weeks ago and have been trying everything I can think of to fix to no avail. I'm also not getting any support from Astro and not seeing much online about it.

Just for clarity, i'm not getting any sound interference, just random uncontrollable glitchy movement from my analog sticks which seems to happen when the sound hits certain frequencies. I thought about trying to tune out the frequencies on the Astro A50
headset using their software but I haven't gotten to the point of trying it as I have no idea where to start.

Why do MS use obscure standards & connectivity for there devices

I don't have an issue with my Astro A50 Gen 3 and atmos. Work a treat no turning it on and off manually. Get a good 15 hours out of them.

Recon chat Xbox one microphone not working - new

There are many different make, brands and models of headsets out there, its hard to choose one to recommend and it depends on how much your willing to spend,

    I'm using the Astro A50 Gen 2 headset ( 2015 ),

This is the Astro A50 Gen 4 headset ( 2019 ), which is much newer than mine and the one i would go for if i had to replace mine,

    https://www.astrogaming.com/en-gb/products/headsets/a50-gen-4.html

Best to shop around to see what there is, and what your willing to get or see if one else post any recommended headset,

or you can make a new post to ask for recommendation on Xbox headsets.
