    So I have xbox series X, I full uodated my Astro A40s with Tr Mix amp no problem and plugged them in and away we went.. However the sound quality was poor...

    So I went to settings, and tried to select "stereo uncompressed" option in headset Audio tab, which worked but then when I tried to select optical audio to bitstream out so I could then select Dolby Digital it wouldn't allow me to. And came up with the error
    code 0x80bd0009.

    I tried finding the solution but couldn't see it anywhere other than one person who suggested turning the T.v display detection from auto to Hdmi only, then retrying the settings which to my shock worked.. I could now select dolby Digital and the sound quality
    was brilliant, but the quality on my monitor was now only at 1080p not 4k. And the only way I could get it back to 4k was to allow the setting of T.v auto detect in the video setting.

    What else can I do?!

    Can’t hear in-game voice chat.

    It’s not connected to my controller. Although I have tried that as well. But I have an Astro A40 connected to a Mixamp pro TR which is connected to a Astro Audio Extractor. ( Since the new consoles don’t have an optical port) and the Audio Extractor is connected to my series X and TV.

    Everything worked fine with this setup until about 3 weeks ago. Around the time the Series X had a firmware update.

    HDMI pass-through, do you use it? And do you want it on Series X?

    I currently don't use it. Neat idea, but not for me. The only thing missing from the Series X that I currently use on my Xbox One is the optical audio out for my Astro A40 setup. But I'm sure Astro and Microsoft will figure out something that won't leave
    all of us "legacy" headset users out in the cold.
