    Hi, hoping someone can help, I'm wanting to link my new email address to my existing gamertag, the address currently linked to the gamertag is no longer used, from what ive read it can only be done via an xbox 360, but I don't have one anymore,

    FFS I've tried for an hour to join xbox live with an existing gamertag and I can't figure it out

    Every time I try to sign up it signs me off my gamertag. I've gone through 4 different email addresses and it randomly assigns me some stupid gamertag and all I want to do is use an existing gamertag and associate it with a windows live or xbox live account.
    Can anyone help?

    Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    I have an existing Windows Live ID and gamertag which I use to play games on my PC.

    I was recently given an XBox. When I tried to log in to XBox Live, I was unable to access my existing account (an error message popped up to tell me that "this email address is associated with an existing gamertag"). I was forced to create a new accountr
    with a new gamertag and a different email address.

    Is there any way that i can now merge the two accounts? I have two gamertags with two Live accounts registered at two different email addresses... not very convenient!

    With your description I am 90% sure that another parental email address is associated to your daughter's gamertag when you initially created the account. You need to contact XBOX phone support to identify the existing parental email address that is currently
    assigned to your daughter's gamertag because that is the email address needed to confirm that she will be assigned to a new parental email which is the email address that you have used to purchase the Family Pack. Hope this helps..

    A gamertag is linked to a Microsoft account. You can create a new account and associate a new gamertag with it, but all accounts must have a unique email address. This email address can be an existing address, but it can't already be associated with another
    account.

    To recap... one email address = one gamertag. But you don't need to create a new email address.

    Hi there,

    Usually, you can only assign one Gamertag per email address. On phones, you will have to use the other address assigned to the other Gamertag, to sign in.

    A better way to explain this might be



    1) Go to http://account.live.com and sign in with your current Microsoft Account for Gamertag 'NEW'



    2) Pick UPDATE EMAIL ADDRESS and click on Or Get A New Email Address to assign Gamertag 'New' to a LIVE.COM or HOTMAIL.COM addresse



    3) Mark up your calendar for 30 days from today



    4) On D-DAY+30, Go to http://account.live.com and sign in with your current Microsoft Account for Gamertag 'OLD'



    5) Pick UPDATE EMAIL ADDRESS and click on Or Get A New Email Address to assign Gamertag 'OLD' to the Microsoft Account used 30 days ago for 'NEW'



    > I want to know how long this process takes. I've read somewhere that after step #2, it will take me 30 days to be allowed to do #4.

    ANSWER: YES

    > Am I correct that this process will take a whopping 90 days?
