Assetto Corsa: Anyone picking it up?

Mark, you've spoke to my wife online, she misses NOTHING lol.

At the moment the main driving games I want are on XB1 but there's a few due soon I want on PS4 but can't justify 2 wheels for a few games.

Some investigation into wheels is needed

Got to admit this game is getting tougher and tougher. Definitely a game that requires a lot of patience.

Don't know if it changes later on in events but basically you get Quick Races, Speed Runs, Time Attacks and Drift Events. Apart from the Quick Races I can mostly finish in the top 3 on events but one quick race I come in last 4-5 seconds behind 7th. Even
dropping down from Medium to Easy difficulty and it's a struggle. Thankfully you can open new Championships just by completing 2 or 3 events out of a 7 event Championship but if your going to go for top spot it's going to require ALOT of practice.

A friend has told me this game is made a lot easier using a wheel so I'm definitely pick one up this week but again this is not a game if your just after a casual, easy pick up and p,ay racer.

I mentioned before though it's one of the most rewarding racers I've played. Most games it's pretty easy to finish first, I'm over the moon if I get a top 3 finish here lol

It's a pity I've already seen so many say they have given up on it but I can understand why. If your only use to the normal console racers this is a big difficulty jump.

It looks like there's a fix/patch incoming.

Reading on Twitter from some gamers a lot further into the game than me. Some races even set to Easy are impossible and the Developers have confirmed they are at this time looking into it and working on a solution.

Tbh I'm not the best racer by far but can hold my own but it's nice to see others saying just how difficult this game can be. I thought I was starting to lose the mojo lol

Surprised you've lasted this long but I know the temptation is building

Seems a few have already traded this back in at my local GAME. Saw 3 pre-owned copies in my local today but good if your tempted, already coming down in price

Tbh though even though I do enjoy it I'd suggest waiting for now. Devs confirmed fixes in the works but no time frame just yet so hopefully better experience and no doubt better price by waiting a bit.

 

Just a update for you guys re wheel.

It turned up today ( nice surprise but woke me up post nights grrrr), anyway I thought F1 was good with my basic little wheel but this thing is awesome, the force feedback is not overpowering and really lets you know when your losing it. If I had one complaint
which seems to be a common one reading around, is that the brake pedal is ridiculously stiff, so much so that I've had to max out the sensitivity on F1 just to be able to stop the cars and even then I'm putting a LOT of force into the pedal. Apparently it
has a "sponge" type block that gives resistance and will hopefully ease in time - some people have said they removed the block (invalidates warranty) or mapped the brake to the clutch instead.

If you do get this wheel then you will definately need a sturdy stand to put it on, what with the force feedback and stiff pedal I don't think it'd be enjoyable not mounted properly.

I've looked a little today but got 2 wheels in mind now. I was in my local GAME today and guy said one wheel they sell works with both consoles but I think he was more interested in the sale than actual facts lol

Got one independent game store where I live and I know they got a few wheels for sale. I'll have a look tomorrow , if no luck I'm just going to order one online otherwise I'll just keep going around in circles lol

Keep us updated with how you get on but my guess at your age you probably need to exercise to get some strength in those old legs ;-)

 

Badger, I've just had a look around in the settings to try to do that on F1 and can't get it to work so I'm not sure if it's possible? Maybe you have to connect it to a PC and reconfigure that way? If you see anything online anywhere let me know and I'll
try it out. Tbh once you play around with the deadzone/ linearity etc it's perfectly acceptable but I'd prefer a longer play in my pedal.
