Assetto Corsa: Anyone picking it up?

I've lost count of the times you've championed a game to the top of the hill but going by a lot of your achievement/records you've hardly played a lot of them. Apologies in advance though, for all I know you could be playing them on another/family/friends
GT. Either way I'll leave this one here. As long as we all have fun gaming it doesn't matter if the game was played for 1 hour or a 100.

I have seen a lot of people already sat they are leaving Corsa because of lack of cars. Personally this doesn't bother me. As much as I love Forza I haven't driven even half of the cars on offer.

Assetto Corsa ... "no servers found"

when starting Assetto Corsa I get NO SERVER FOUND anyone else having this problem?

#YOLO Mission 3 is also stuck for Me

I too have this issue.

Bought Assetto Corsa, Just Cause 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4. I earned 3 achievements in Assetto Corsa then have something like 17 on Just Cause 3 but have been stuck on the of 5 on the Yolo mission for days. I have since gone back
and earned another 2 on Assetto Corsa to make 5 for that game incase it has glitched.

 

If your looking for a decent SIM experience I highly recommend it. I have been playing it for years, but again I prefer sim racers. I suspect it is better on PC, because of the easy updates and vast choices in wheel/pedal support, but if XBOXONE is all you
got and you want a SIM experience, then it should be a good one.

I see there's a few reviews up. I haven't read them fully but I've seen mentioned the career is a bit dull ( looking at most driving games I couldn't say any have that WOW career ) all say it's tough and challenging ( Badger is definitely out ;-p ) but one
very rewarding racer.

Again a review is one persons opinion but for those interested I've seen it score 7/10 & 8/10 so far

Others liking the challenge

Most and I doubt this will be much of a surprise to anyone are comparing graphics between different platforms. I really do miss the days where most of the chatter was focused on the actual gameplay/playability :-/

I look forward to trying it out for myself

 

So this is a sim? I'm more into arcade racers so I can smack off walls and not slow down lol. Forza was about as close to a sim as I can play.

Kind of answered your own question there.

You can measure yourself by your achievements if you want to but there are games like "Oblivion" where I'll probably never see the full gamerscore because it would involve doing stuff my characters simply don't care to do.

If a game is over for you once you've gotten all the achievements in it... it's not really that good a game, is it?

Did you play "Race Pro" and find it to be better than the "Forza" series then?

You sound like you've played most of the racing games that have come out so I'd actually be interested in how you find "Assetto Corsa".

I wasn't so much trying to "poo poo" a game you're intersted in as much as point out that Racing Games are finding it harder to really take things to a newer fresher level. They're arguably more over-saturated than FPS as a genre.

 

I have this game for PC as I got it for $20 a couple of months ago on a Steam sale and I just do not like the mechanics of it. It looks pretty but I just prefer project cars and forza.

 

I'll pick it up down the road, just because my budget for the rest of the year is basically non existant with all the games I have pre-ordered that I have to pay off.

 

From what I know. This one actually tries to compete with big boy racing sims on consoles(FORZA and GT). By have over 100 cars out the gate. Unlike PC did with only like 60 cars. And 60 cars is not worth the $60 at launch. If go by price that PC come out.
And brake it down for each are. It was a dollar each. While FORZA 5 you basically paying the cars in the game by the penny's.

 

This game released in Australai yesterday. I bought a copy from EB Games and returned it for a refund this morning. It is an unfinished, rough and deeply flawed game. It runs very poorly. Skipping frames, screen tearing, and a frame-rate that fluctuates
wildly. It is near on unplayable.

On top of this, online racing is worse. It stutters like crazy and crashes randomly. There are no private lobby options to race with friends. Plus there are no leaderboards to compare times with friends. It is light on content and they shove paid DLC cars
(which apparently shipped on the disc) in your face when selecting a car.

Bargain bin game.

 

Mixed first impressions

Plays smooth enough, hasn't got the looks of something like Forza 6 but still does the job

The Career menu is a bit of a mess the and will take some figuring out

It's not a racer though for the casual fan. If you rely on racing lines in games then move on. Even with it on its useless, definitely a racer where you need to learn each bend, hard turn etc

I've had about 3 hours so far and why it didn't grab me straight away I want to keep playing. Get better at each track

Early days yet and I could have had enough tomorrow or it could drag me in more but it's more rewarding than any console racer I've played. You know you have to get it spot on to even get a top 3 finish

I hope it's a game that rewards more the more time your willing to put into it

Sorry the gamer above says it's unplayable , either we p,aging 2 fife rent games or there's a problem somewhere

 

Had another hour or so on it and it definitely lacks some polish, mainly in the career menu system which does take some getting use to.

I actually really enjoy the racing though. Just like with Dirt Rally, it was tough to get a half decent result let alone first place but when you have a half decent race the sense of achievement is more that I get from most racing games I've played. I'd
stress again though if you like to breeze easily through a racing game without too much fuss then this definitely isn't for you. You can be having a good race and in a split second it all goes wrong , it can be quite frustrating but for me it's one of those
games where I'll take a break, 5 minutes later I'm itching to try and improve.

It'll be interesting to see how the game opens up later on but again, it lacks some polish but from the 4 or so hours I've put into it so far it's definitely for those that like more of a challenge and have some patients lol
