    I'm loving Assassins Creed 4 but ...

The only thing that has slightly spoilt it is why so many ... "Creep around and follow/listen to him" .... and when you back in the modern world, hacking computers etc, these parts feel really tedious.

Overall though I'm loving it, not quite my favourite in the series but it comes close.

On a side note, I'd love a game where it just involved sailing, looting, trading etc, spent so much time living out my pirate fantasies lol

    :)

This post is my thoughts exactly. AC3 was just so boring, it's the only one I haven't finished and smiled about after.

    -

I personally think the best game was the second. The story was simple enough to follow, the characters were fun and the new weapons were awesome (double blade, need I say more?). After that it all just got complicated and the guns took too
much of a heavy influence, I always try to avoid using them at all where I can because it just isn't how the game should be.

    -

I think they hit the nail on the head perfectly with the first game and Altair's story, only adding to the fun with Ezio and his gadgets but now they just seem to have killed it.

    [/quote]

No, you need not say more. Those were EPIC when they first came out lol. Couldn't agree more with what you are saying there. When I think of Assassins Creed, I really 'want' to think about stealth and exploration. So many fans criticized Ubisoft for contemplating
an Assassins Creed game in ancient Egypt and I can totally understand why, but think about this:

    • Tombs
    • Ancient traps
    • No guns
    • The pyramids to explore with plenty of story to play with

That's just off the top of my head. I would love a game in that era. AC4 is pretty good and I have completed it to the end but something just felt like it was incomplete, even though I know it was a full game and great to play. Can't quite put my finger
on that one. I just worry they creep too close to our own era and it takes the fantasy out of it.

@Lofty oh yes! I have pillaged plenty myself and a pirate only game would make a fantastic multi-player experience. I don't know why they didn't add ship battles to multi-player because that would of been ace. Then again, it would be a long shot but an
online only open-world pirate game would be pretty cool too.

Those are the exact types of things that made the original game so wonderful to play. The fact that you can finally take a break from guns a move in to a completely alien world with your only weapons being a couple of blades and some badass killing styles.
I mean, can you imagine climbing the outside of the pyramids perhaps messing around with ancient beliefs of Gods and magic etc.

    -

I'm sure I'll play AC4 on Xbox One when the price comes down but to me, the game seems to have gotten a bit too "grand". It's all about who has the shiniest stuff as oppose to before when it was just about who has the bloodiest blade and discovering the
    leader's big secrets.

If you haven't played it don't knock it. ;-) As for guns they are not compulsory you can play through all of the AC's without resorting to gun play. Climbing the outside of a pyramid would be pretty boring i reckon, exploring the inside of one would
be ok but Tomb Raider used to fill that slot. AC4 is a great return to form and an epic re imagining of the AC universe.

  9. ^^^ I'm just gutted they couldn't include multiplayer naval battles... one of the downsides of cross-gen games though I suppose.

The great thing about Black flag is that it works just as well as a pirate-sim as it does an AC game, in fact for me, despite being an AC fan, the story is playing second fiddle to the rest of the game at the moment - I got 25hrs racked up and i'm only halfway
    through sequence 5!

^ Agreed Hog, to be honest they did the AC Desmond thing to death and this is breath of fresh air, with the balance between the feel of a pirate game and the Assasins/Templars conflict just about right. Edwards character reflects this beautifully as he
is drawn reluctantly into choosing a side when all he is really interested in is making a better life for himself As for the modern day element I actually enjoy that a bit more than in previous games as its much more tongue in cheek.

After about 60 hours of play I just hit sequence 12. Most of the time is just spent sailing, looting etc. I just managed today to fully upgrade my ship, now time to go take on the 5 legendary boats Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD announced for Xbox 360 :)

HAve to agree with folks re AC4, i have never been an AC fan but playing this game most of the time you do not realise your playing an AC game. Sailing the open waters looking for treaure with your crew singing chantys (i have the turtle beaches turned
waaaay up for these) is as big a part oif the game as being an assassin.
