Assassins Creed IV Black Flag Problem

I recently purchased a used Assassins Creed IV Black Flag game and tried playing it on my new Xbox 360 (old one died). I managed to get to the first Island, Abaco, and when I achieved the goal of 2 Iguanas and ocelots the saved menu appeared. When I try
to continue it shows the play briefly (split second) and returns to the menu. I can only continue to play if I reload and start the mission over. I bought a new game on Amazon, thinking the used game was a defect, and the same thing happens continually. What
the heck is going on? I have tried the complicated effort of support and get nowhere. I know I am not as mentally sharp as when I was young (I'm 75) but I'm sharper than most my age. I am knowledgeable with Xbox and play many games for the past 15 years or
so. Can someone here point me in the right direction?

I am having the same problem on halo mcc and assassins creed IV black flag

 

Hi there, it does sound like the save file may be corrupted, when you say that you can continue to play if you restart the mission, have you tried redoing the mission and seeing if you can get passed where the game is looping to the menu?

 

I tried that several times and the problem remained. After trying a new Battlefield 4 it will not load. After extensive efforts and time it was determined by Microsoft support that the problem is a bad sector on my new Xbox. Although my older games will
play it simply stops and I have to turn it off at the console.

 

a bad sector on what? that's not a real thing that i have ever heard of. if you are having load issues, it's either the disc, your dvd drive, or MAYBE a "bad sector" on your xbox hard drive, but that should not really cause that.

easy way to check is try to play without the hard drive. you said you tried a new Battlefield 4, but first you were talking about Assassin's Creed, so i am going to guess you meant you got a new copy of that same game.

if you can go into your settings and go to storage, you should be able to see all the save files and installed content you have on your hard drive.

firstly i would try to install the xbox game to the hard drive. if it fails before it reaches 100% then it's probably a disc read error. if it goes to 100% then try the game again. if it still freezes, i would suggest to copy all the save files and other
important content from your hard drive, then format it and try again. or try to start it up without the hard drive.

microsoft is quick to call Hardware Failure because then the only option they will suggest is to send it to them for repair. usually that is overpriced and unnecessary.
