Assassins Creed Black Flag Won't Launch

I get the error "Make sure your subscription is active. Games with Gold require Xbox Live Gold. If your membership is current, try closing and relaunching the game"

I own the game, I have Xbox Live Gold (Doesn't run out for over another year), and the game doesn't even launch. I just get this error every time I try opening it.

No other games have this issue. Can't even launch on another account.

Digital copy, by the way.



I've reinstalled and whatnot as well, no luck. It's only Black Flag that will not launch.

Launch day: Dead Rising 3 and BF4 then i will download off the "xbox store" Assassins creed black flag.

 

I have a good idea what's going on...maybe. AC4: Black flag was in "games with gold" last month or maybe July, I have never tried it but I once heard you cannot play a game you got for free with gold. For whatever reason it glitched and it thinks you don't
have gold and you got it for free...I have no idea what to do about it tho...because it's a problem on your end because I played AC4 at the end of august, no problem.

 

All my other games that came with Games with Gold work just fine.

 

AC: Black Flag was GWG-status back in July 2015. "Games with Gold" titles should always be playable so as long as your Xbox Live Gold subscription remains active.

The fact that you were able to reinstall the digital copy should mean that the Microsoft servers acknowledged that you claimed the game when it was GWG at the time.

You can try logging off and logging back on with your Xbox account on your console. A power cycle never hurts as well (instructions).

ooh ooh make sure you aren't plugged into a power strip!!! apparently that causes all sorts of issues. [i'm joking of course...]

of course you could always try a Full Factory Reset and Redownload Everything, or send it in for "Repairs", though i seriously doubt any of that will make a difference, and highly recommend against it.

ok now for a serious answer. is it possible that you added a 14 day trial at some point? perhaps the regular subscription ended, and you are now in the trial period (which does not allow access to GWG), then after the 14 days, your regular subscription
would resume along with GWG access. also check to see if the payment card you have on file for the account did not expire, as i have read some users saying that caused them issues. (just trying to think of anything it could be.) i will continue to look
into this some more, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable would also be able to give you some advice in the meantime.

 

hm could this perhaps be an issue with the game itself, on MS server side? another person has just posted the same thing was happening to them. the newest updates have been causing all sort of problems, so i'm going to guess it's that. hopefully someone
official can look into this because most likely no amount of resetting or reinstalling would make a different if it's the update. you'd just have to wait for MS to fix it.

Same issue I'm having. I even did a factory reset, which did not fix anything.

Is it possible you were accidentally signed in with another account or a friend had used your Xbox One that owned the content? It sounds like the license for the game is not tied to your account which would explain your inability to launch it.

 

If you search for Assassin's Creed Black Flag here on Xbox.com does it ask you to purchase the content again or does it give you the option to download it?

 

Gives me the option to download it. Doing so downloads it, but of course, I can't launch it.

 

Recently found that I'm in a similar boat with not being able to launch AC4, was suggested by support to uninstall and redownload it. Now I can't even install it without purchasing it and that makes absolutely no sense because I have save data for the game
stored on my xbox (not possible to have if you don't own the game as there is no way to launch the game and switch profile without it kicking you out of the play sessions) and Ubisoft recognises me as an owner of an xbox one copy on both Uplay and Ubisoft
Club. Ubisoft support says it's an xbox/MS issue, MS refuses to deal with me because their suggestion of redownloading it basically means I have no choice but to purchase the game.

 

Have you tried deleting your profile of your xbox and redownloading it?
