Asking for Microsoft Code

I recently bought a download code at Gamestop for Child Of Light for Xbox 360. I bought it for my friends son. When I asked her how he was enjoying it, she told me after he typed in the 25 digit code, it asked him for a Microsoft Code. I've been on Live
since almost the beginning......the only thing I remember was an extra security proof where you inputted a # that was called/texted to your phone.

If it's that security proof, he can just have the code texted/called to his phone and he's good, no?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Either Bio. Or Asking someone for microsoft points for xbox live favors. idk, something against code of conduct. not all things have to be mod related.

 

Purchasing items from store using my account credit

I recently received an Xbox gift card so I entered code and it says you have 15 pounds in your Microsoft account , can I use this to buy a football top I have found for my avatar in the Microsoft store , when I tried I just kept asking me to change
payment type and asking for credit card details ,

 

If they need a security code they can use a home phone number to have the code sent to. Also, the code is not for the game itself but a currency amount of (I believe) $15 which can be used to purchase the game from the Xbox Marketplace.
