Asked for credit card details when changing my Gamertag on the website

Hello, I want to change my Gamertag using the website for another account that I use, but it asks for my credit card details. I bought a prepaid card of $10 which I added to the account last week to make the change. I do not know why it wants these details.
I live in Kenya and the bank is currently not supported.

I get a message, which is: "The remainder of your purchase needs to go on a credit card". If I add more money via prepaid gift cards, will that be enough?

I do not have my Xbox 360 now, which I know can be an alternative to make the change. Will it even be possible on Xbox 360?

10 Year old's XBOX LIVE set up.

I'm trying to set up my Son's live account but when asked for credit card details I can only give my debit card details as I do not have a credit card. The details do not seem to be acceptable.

I have tried online chat and asked the direct question but was told to purchase a prepaid subscription for him. This still doesn't explain how to set up his live account.

Am I able to use my debit card to set up his account?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

 

Using credits from a code that I Redeemed

I am trying to spend some credit that I bought. I can see the credit on my account but when ever I try purchase a game via the xboxlive website it keeps telling me to add a credit card. I am not willing to add my credit card details.

Please advise how I can spend my credit without adding a credit card onto my account?

If the website is not xbox.com I wouldn't try to put my credit card information there , but if it is xbox.com website ,I've done it a lot of times, when it comes o 10$ prepaid cards , changing game tag price doesn't include the +tax part so if it's 9$ to
change a GT u should always remember that's without including the Tax, so it might cost more then 10$, and because of that the Xbox will charge you from your credit card due to not having enough money to pay thru your Xbox account

If I buy more prepaid cards, will that be enough to pay for the tax?

 

Yes having more prepaid currency would cover the tax charge too I've been using the Xbox prepaid cards and it covered all of it
