Ashen for Xbox played on PC

Hello!

I am currently trying to play Ashen on my PC with my family which use my Xbox.

We are using separate accounts and are game sharing; therefore, ownership rights aren't an issue.

I downloaded the XBOX version of Ashen onto the Xbox One X console and my PC through each device's Microsoft Store app.

The game runs and plays perfectly well aside from the Coop failing to link us into the same worlds.

I have met all requirements for the Coop System without one successful link, but have not been successful:

Equal Story Progression

Same Location Geographically

Using the Multiplayer Filter with a matching Filter Code

The only factor that I can think of keeping the coop function from working is that I am not on an Xbox; however, I am 100% playing the Xbox game file, I still have all my Xbox saves and progression, and Xbox tells me the file can only be active on one device at a time if opened under my account on both devices. This proves that the version of Ashen on my PC registers as an Xbox game on Xbox servers.

I understand this, which us why I downloaded the XBOX copy from the Mivrosoft Store rather than the PC version from the Epic Games store.

I am indeed playing Xbox Ashen on both devices; however, it is not connecting propely for coop. The official Discord has many complaints of similar issues between normal console to console play, and the PC to PC play never worked to begin with apparently.

looks like the game may have cross progression but not crossplay, therefore you cannot play against people on console version.

It is not the exact same file, it is the pc version which is designed for pc.

because the game is part of the play anywhere program, therefore owning it on console gives you access to the pc version too. so cross progression like your saves will work, the game just does not have crossplay from pc to console.

there are limited amount of games that are part of the play anywhere program. some allow crossplay most don't.

other games that are play anywhere like forza horizon 4 and 5, halo etc are crossplay.

crossplay is down to the developer if they want to include it or not.

Then why does my xbox register my owning it, playing it, and having save progress via Xbox Cloud, servers, ownership, etc? That makes no sense. I downloaded the exact same file onto my PC that is on my xbox.

That's a shame, yeah I always heard issues cross-platforming the game.
