  1. As the family administrator am I able to change my teen's password

Teen cannot remember his password. Tried to recover using security code but kept kicking him out. He then entered all his information for email but got a message that Microsoft team will get back in 24 hours. So he is locked out then. Why is it so hard to get a change in passwords? I tried to enter his email account on my laptop under Xbox/ Microsoft and kept trying to change my email password not his. Very frustrating. He is part of the family group, so is it possible that I can change password for his user id?

    :)

As the family administrator am I able to change my teen's password

    Hello CharlesFlancher,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Based on the description you posted, it seems that you have an issue with Xbox wherein you want to know if you can change the user ID password of a family member

Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue.

For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

    • We would like a confirmation from your end if you are trying to change the user profile password of your family member?

    • Have you already tried to open your browser in private mode?

In the meantime, we would like you to try the steps provided down below:

Step 1: Reset your members user ID password

    1. Open your browser in-private or incognito mode, so that your own account will not synced in automatically.

    2. Then go to this website Recover your account (live.com)

    2. Type in the email address of your teens account then hit next.

    3. Click the Get code button after selecting the phone number or recovery email to which the verification code should be sent.

    4. A 6-digit number will be sent to the address you provided through text message or email. Hit Next after pasting the code into the form.

    5. After entering the new password, select Next.

    6. You'll get a notification that the password was altered. Now that you have a new password, you can enter the account safely by clicking the Sign in button.

If the issue still persist, please let us know so we ca continue our conversation about this matter.

    Sincerely

i was just trying to make a new microsoft account but then it put my "child" to the family lol please send help how do i remove the freaking "child"??

    Hi there,

Follow the steps to Remove a family member
. Just enter your password or passkey to validate the changes, and keep in mind that

    • Any adult in the family can remove another family member. Children and teens are prohibited from making this change.
    • When a child is removed from the family, they won’t be able to use the Xbox service until they have been added to another family.
    • Adults removed from the family no longer can manage the child accounts in the family. However, they'll have full rights to their account and will be able to use home console sharing when signed in to the home console.

    Happy gaming!

    Child Account

If I change my adult account password, won't he still be able to go into his account and just "leave" the family?

ask for anything it just says its wrong and I should go to account.live.com to fix it. I go there and have no issues signing in. None of my info has changed.
