If account is in my name as an adult if my child is being cussed at and bullied do i have the right to listen on mic and say something if they r friend of his from his school especially if there are threats being made and this carries over to school.

    :)

Not only do you have the right to listen in, but you have an obligation to protect your kid. If you are worried about what the involved parties would say, I would remind them that your job is to protect your child from these types of things. I would
be extremely careful how you address the issue because you don't want to get a ban for how you handled it. The easiest way is to block and report the individuals issuing the threats. If there are threats that carry over to school, the staff should be made
aware and if need be the authorities may need to be made aware as well. Online bullying is a serious thing that some people leave unaddressed. If it were my child I would be all in on helping them. Good luck to you and your kid!

    Definitely.

As a parent, I've always encouraged my son to only be in party chat with people he knows well. And I share access to his online accounts, and occasionally check out his conversations on Xbox Live, Whatsapp etc, with his permission.

And if someone is cyberbullying, then you definitely have a right to act. Particularly to stop it from escalating further.

I'd say that confronting the child directly might not have the best results. It's worth thinking about contacting the school or the parents of the bully if you know them well enough.

And in addition, blocking the bully from chat/on Xbox live.

I don't know where you're based, but certainly in the UK schools are becoming more aware and helpful when it comes to cyberbullying, and there are also other independent organisations to help younger people stay safe online, so there are places to turn if
the school/police or anyone else isn't taking it seriously enough.

As folks have said, you can and probably should, monitor what your kids doing and saying on xbox, espesh if it's your account, since anything he or she says while using your account, is accountable to you, meaning any breaches of ts and cs will fall on your
    head so to speak.

With regards to whether you should say anything or intervene, I'd say a firm NO.

Simply mute, block and report the offenders, then speak to your child about what was said and remind them that people can be mean, hurtful, espesh when they are faceless internet entities, and let your child know that their self worth doesnt come from others
opinions, and teach them how to use the resources provided by Microsoft to deal with such behaviour (like the afore mentioned mute block and reporting functuons)

I'm not a parent but if your kid is being picked on then I say yes you have that right and the right to protect your kids
