It has nothing to do with opinions. When you disagree with my opinion or view you make it personal. The "OC Mansion" comments, the amount of money I spend on games, every post I make is negative. I'm wrong 20 people are right, etc etc.

People can say what they want about me here but I'm always civil. I even tried to de-escalate it with my attempt at humor and the Mickey mouse ears. My hope was you'd take a step back and realize things were getting a little heated over nothing. That backfired
horribly and sent you off on another rant.

 

It has everything to do with opinions. We had opinions, you and GG didn't agree and I was just reading back through the escapist thread.

The same can be said for people shelling out 60 bucks (or more) for the garbage that passes itself off as next gen games.

If all people want are games that look "pretty" and don't care about gameplay then we're in trouble. For me personally the graphics won't keep me playing a game if the gameplay isn't there and that's what we are seeing from the AAA releases.

You take games like Ryse, Forza 5 and DA:I, remove the pretty graphics and they don't hold up to other games in the same genre. You had people here praising those games as 10/10 but thankfully outside this forum the reception wasn't nearly as kind and I
think the majority of gamers see garbage as garbage no matter how pretty it looks.

Your comment basically attacking everyone on here as liking games that are crap. Gamers outside this forum see garbage as garbage. Sounds to me like your saying the opinions of gamers on here are garbage huh? These are your words.

The close-mindedness and ignorance of this thread is mind-boggling to the point that it almost makes my blood boil...

These were GGs comments after a few of us said we weren't interested in the game due to its graphics. This is the reactions you two gave us and yet you say that your civil.

It certainly isn't how it comes across to me!

 

@Randver... just some food for thought. You made a post a few pages-ish? back saying that no one comes to your defense when you're attacked, or something like that. I'd just like to say that I'm not so sure that's 100% true.

I am more the type of person to support what I believe as opposed to whom. I'll defend an idea, or viewpoint, more than the person promoting it. I can't help but think there have been at least a few points you've brought up, over the time we've both been
here, that I've agreed with. I can't recall anything specific, who knows? Maybe you weren't 'attacked' over it at the time, but one thing I can honestly say. I would not now, nor would I ever, simply ignore an attack on an idea, viewpoint or w/e, just because
you (or anyone else, for that matter) were the one who brought it up. I'm just not like that.

Also, JMO on the comment you made about Mickey Mouse ears... considering the context of the previous argument(s)... I saw that comment as just making things worse. My perception of it was not of an attempt to lighten the atmosphere, but that it was sarcasm...
or perhaps an attempt to belittle the 'other side's' argument entirely. Had you not actually said what your true intent was, I'd likely still think that.

Just something [for all] to take into consideration when having a discussion... it's all too easy to get the wrong impression when so many key aspects of interpretation are removed via the internet. We all do it, probably on a daily basis... otherwise, I
doubt there would be quite so many heated discussions in here.

Edit: Just for clarity's sake, I was in the process of typing this post and submitted it before the ^ above. Didn't want you to think it was a spin off or something.

 

I just want to clarify will all here that I don't hate or even dislike randver or GG in any way. What does bother me is being told that anyone's opinions on here are garbage, close minded, not In line with real gamers on other forums, not legitimate reasons
and then sit there while they defend their actions as being civil. Attacking peoples opinions as garbage because they thought a game was 10/10 is wrong. It's an opinion that should be respected. Attacking someone as being close minded because they don't like
the graphics of a game is wrong as well. And if those that do this can't expect a bit of retaliation, then don't do it in the first place.

Not defending my actions, just explaining them!

that's obviously not the case.

Dufful comments in the above post attributed to me are my opinions and when people tell me I don't speak for other gamers that's when I bring the views of other gamers (via links) to the forum. That's what we are debating ( quality of indie games, AAA games,
etc). There is a double standard here, If I give DA:I a 5/10 I'm an idiot because everyone here thinks it's a 10/10 yet when I bring up that others agree with me that's not ok and I'm insulting the people here.

When the comments stay related to gaming and if it gets heated so be it.....that's the nature of general discussion forums. When people start making comments that have nothing to do with gaming in attempt to insult someone then that crosses a line. I don't
sit here and make comments about Dufful's music (that I've never heard) in an attempt to get a rise out of him or insult him. That's the line that several people here cross where it becomes less about debate and more about being an ***.

 

So you consider calling gamers' opinions on this site garbage, a light hearted discussion? You insulting every person on here is light hearted? Ok. Can someone seriously lock and delete this thread! PLEASE!!!!!!!!

 

After watching several different video's and reading about this game, It sounds to be that the dev focused their efforts on the cut scenes first, then what little effort they had left they put into gameplay.

Also the more videos I watched, I have even less desire to play it. I 100% would not spend money on this game and probably wouldn't bother with it if it was free.

The problem with links has been brought up before. Anyone can go grab a link from a site they like, or even a site they dislike and use it to "prove they're right". Thing is, anyone else can go to Google or w/e, do a search with the proper keywords, poke
around for a few minutes and link to another site that "proves" the exact opposite. Then we have people calling each others' sources click bait sites and finding more links to "prove" that...

Blah blah blah... and once again, [insert thread title here].

I rarely ever follow links people provide in here. Unless they're funny/game videos or news announcements direct from MS or w/e company is making said announcement. They have z e r o value in the grand scheme of things, other than to provide something else
to bicker about. Which is why I rarely bother to use them... they're not worth the effort to post them.

JMO, but honestly I doubt too many people would disagree. I'd go find a site with a poll and link it to prove my point... but... >.< lol

People tell me I don't know what I'm talking about/my opinions are moronic/etc at a minimum several times a week. What you're getting bent out of shape about has been done to me since launch.

That's the double standard I'm referring to. It's fine when it's done to people that don't hold your opinion or view but when it's done to you it's insulting and "LOCK THE THREAD".

 

You know randver, if you were bothered to go back through every single thread we were ever part of, you would see there are times I've agreed with you and even defended your side of the story. But the way you and GG went on the defensive over the whole escapist
incident was uncalled for. Did I overeact to said comments? Perhaps. But we were talking about a game and you attacked our choices of games as a whole, just because we didn't like the one you liked.

I will freely admit that this discussion has gotten out of hand and that I am partly to blame for that. I apoligise to the forum goers who have had to sit through this little war.

 

Someone sounds bitter. Still, the apology is appreciated.

 

GG trust me when I say, that apology was in no way meant for you. And it's typical that here I am admitting that this getting out of control was partly my fault and you have to be an *** about it. Then again you never surprise me anymore.

I have said it in the past and it remains true today, I have no problem with you and I'm well aware you have agreed with me in the past.

Nothing I say here is ever meant to purposely be insulting or disrespectful. I don't take this forum seriously and I sometimes forget this is the only place many people here come to discuss gaming and would like for it to be taken seriously......guilty as
charged.

 

That wasn't meant as an insult, Dufful.

...and I know the apology wasn't directed at me - it was still appreciated by me though because that's among the many steps needed to start being rational rather than to continuously place blame or accusations upon others.

 

Wow, I just went to work and came back home and this is still going. By all means, continue. (even if we are just going round and round like hamsters.)
