Yeah preview program is still around, am in it myself

Ark isn't a part of the preview program, and will be available to all on the 16th of this month It will be an early access game that can be purchased from the MS store as per normal. The game will be at a discounted price as its an Early access game,
and that price will go up once its fully released. Although we won't need to pay again for those of us who get it in early access

Am amped!! Game looks sweet, been wathcing it played on PC for a while wishing that it would come to console... and then bam!... it came to the console couldn't be happier, the game looks awesome

 

There seems to be some misinformation in this thread...

The Xbox One Preview Program is still very much a thing, though currently it involves receiving bug fixes a couple days before the update goes public and there will not be any new features until February.

As for Xbox Game Preview, which is how you will access Ark, that is separate, despite the similar names. If you can see The Long Dark, Sheltered and Layers of Fear, the other three games in Xbox Game Preview, then you will be able to see Ark when it launches.

Also, all Game Previews up until now have carried a free trial period, after which you can purchase the game - and it has been confirmed that the price will be raised when fully launched, but if you buy at the cheaper price during the Xbox Game Preview then
you will not need to purchase it again once it launches.

 

Buying it from MS store will leave us limited by the trial still or let us play unhindered?

 

Its limited to what ever the trial is. It is early access so no progress will be saved and sometimes the game may not even work. You are basically pre paying for a game that is not finished yet.

 

Rvhk we are already paying $60 for unfinished games and games that dont work after going gold.

There should be a free trial, which is the full game but you only have a set number of hours to play it.

However, if you buy it then you carry on having access to the game, your progress remains (it's still the same game and same save file), but the time limit disappears.

That is not accurate. All progress is saved and would carry over to the full game if you choose to purchase it - both if you purchase while in Game Preview, OR if you purchase after the full release.

Yes, that's an important point that all players should be aware of going on. In an interview, one of the creators at Studio Wildcard claimed that the Xbox One version is far better optimised than the PC version, but of course it's still 7-8 months from full
release so there may be many bugs - some large, game-breaking bugs even - present in the early builds. That's the trade-off for playing early.

 

from what im reading, game preview doesnt require and invite. Only the system update preview program. I think it will be avail for everyone when it releases on the 16th

 

also if they release the same as pc the bugs will be minimal, its been out for almost half a year on PC so its not like its a fresh game. They have fixed and upgraded a lot since its original alpha release on pc

Correct.

Yes, it will be virtually the same version - Studio Wildcard have promised total feature parity - but that doesn't mean it will be guaranteed to be bug-free, there could still be unexpected things go wrong. But from what I've heard of the PC version, it
should still be fairly good in that regard, but we'll see when it launches in preview tomorrow.

 

does anyone know from that time the Ark will be available for download? I wanted to leave already ready to play in the early hours of the day 16/12

 

As being one of the first to snap up elite dangerous, i cant tell you rvhk is wrong. Once you buy a game you can play unhindered, for as long as you like, progress within a game also saves.

It should be available to everyone.

Elite dangerous is an amazing game, can not wait for horizons, but glad it came to game preview, hopefully more pc devs follow suit.

I know DAYZ is coming to game preview in 2k16..
