Ark: Survival Evolved CrossPlay issue.

Ark Survival Evolved is a full game, and Ark Extinction is an add-on. Your title and description are contrary to each other and so I'm confused.

If you purchased Ark Survival Evolved then you should be just able to play it. However, if you purchased Ark Extinction then you must also purchase Ark
Survival Evolved.

That is correct. It should innately be cross-play. You just need to set up the server and launch it. Once it is loaded your friend should be able to join in.

Additionally there is a big difference between the Dedicated and Non-Dedicated player servers. If you are hosting a Dedicated server, you will essentially be making that console&account the server. You will not actually be in the game with this option, just
hosting and controlling it. This is good if you have 2 consoles and a spare account to host. This also lets you and your friends span the whole map without each other.

If you are hosting the Non-Dedicated server then you will be in the game with your friend but will have to stay within 1500m of each other. This is good if you only have the one console and account.
