Ark Survival Evolution - Paid version vs free version

I downloaded the free demo copy of Ark Survival to the Xbox and my children liked it so I paid for the full (preview) version but didn't see additional content download to the Xbox. I dont know what the differences are between the two although my children
have suggested progress isn't saved in the free version and game play is limited to one hour slots, and I'm not sure if either of these points are valid.

I'm assuming any differences between free and paid for is handled on the game servers?

I would be grateful for any help or advice as to how I can confirm I have what's expected having paid for the game.

As Otaku Panda cx mentioned.

With Game Preview titles. You are basically playing a game in it's unfinished and unreleased state. You are allowed to play the game for 1 hour to basically decide if you are happy with the game in it's current state. If you do purchase the game while in
the Game Preview state, you will unlock the game so that you can continue to play past the 1 hour time limit and will have access to any future updates (while in preview) including the final release version (should it release out of game preview).

To answer your question about saving. Ark is a bit different, in that the player character is saved to an online server and you need to continue to play on that server to continue where you left off. You'll want to take a look at Ark's official website
