@GG. True fire proof safes have special cladding in the walls/door, so even the heat doesn't penetrate. A lot of cheap safes may say fire proof but the truth is they wouldn't survive a house fire. Be prepared to spend a lot of cash on a safe that really
would survive a big fire.

 

I guess I'll have to do my own research - I still find it hard to believe that special padding of any kind can keep out the temperatures that a house fire can sustain. In any case, thanks for answering my question!

 

That's not hardcore, that's just stupidity. I would only risk my life for another life. Pieces of silicon and plastic can melt for all I care. That's what insurance is for.

Na, I would never put peoples lives in risk by running back into a burning house for a video game system, what if that dude got traped in there, then a fire fighter would have to go in and risk his, hers life to rescue u. Thats what insurance is for.

[/quote]Yes I do, those are the tracking & data devices put into airplanes - I've seen those things actually put under stress tests & it's amazing what they go through to survive. In any case, I'm fairly certain that those are prohibitively more expensive
than a fire-proof safe.

My mother's got a fire-proof safe now that I think of it... I'll just ask her if I can have a look at it to see for myself.

I have to agree.

I'd give my life in a heartbeat if I could save another, a console? absolutely no-way!!

 

80000 worth of damage and a massive risk that he might die but who cares he got his Xbox out safely. Now all he needs is a TV and some where to play it haha.
