You should be concerned about all this. The writing is already on the wall, two Xbox One AAA exclusives are on the PC.

There is a very good chance that what we are discussing could be the future of gaming from your couch or recliner.

Just a FYI.....if this does happen then Sony goes down too so if Wild is being a Sony fanboy he's doing a horrible job.

 

I don't sit on fences. I got 130 stitches once running from the cops and sliced my hand open. The steambox is a PC to me. Somebody needs to suck it up and swallow more...

Wild come to think of it because its so quiet and no drama but over on the sony forum there is a riot about psn and psn plus also drive club servers melt down you should join them and stick up for the sony consoles because after reading in general discussion
on there forum alot of haters right now

one person who moved to the PS4. How many other people do you know upgraded in the same console family. I bet the number is a lot higher.

Brand loyalty means everything these days. For example why do you think people keep getting iPhones when there are now other brands of phones with better feature sets for a lower price. Simple, because people have bought into brand loyalty, they've got so
much tied into Apple's eco-system that they just wont leave.

Plus as I said before brand loyalty exists on the PC between simple distribution services.

For example I've been on many a forum where people have said they would have bought Titanfall if it was on Steam. You can repeat that for pretty much any game you choose.

It isn't just sticking it to the man or they'd be boycotting Steam as well. Valve isn't some fluffy bunny company. EA have a refund policy on Origin and their customer service blows Valve's out of the water. Yes Origin tends to be more expensive but I'd
say they look after their customers far better.

None of that seems to matter though because "lol Steam sales are great."

 

switching from pc to xbox cause pc boring, theres no kids screaming at you for beating them its just not the same

I think we are in agreement on the vast majority of this (with the exception of the PC distribution loyalty and that may be an age thing for me).

I think you're looking at it from the viewpoint of the issues with it happening today and I'm looking at it 6-12 months from now when most of your concerns could be dealt with. The PC gaming community is phenomenal at fixing things that the developers don't
so we'd have solutions quickly.

I think the biggest hurdle isn't the tech but changing the view of the current single platform console owners.....and some of the comments in this thread make me wonder if that's a losing battle.

 

@ Vaynel interesting comments about Apple products.

I use to have a I Phone 4 now i'm on android, also android phones played a really big part in reshaping the I Phone 6 bigger screens etc.

But a I Phone is very different to a console without games a console is useless a phone isn't.

Randver is spot on Steam effects both Sony and Microsoft looking around on Steam you come across PS4 games and XBOne games too.

Rhyse plays in 1080 P and it cost a lot less to buy. If you on next gen then you stuck and have to pay the new inflated prices games are retailing now.

Microsoft and Sony are very interested in Steam as they are watching them to see what they do. You could say both Sony and Microsoft are being inspired by Steam at the moment.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong Play Tv is Sony's answer to Steam expect Microsoft to follow with something similar in the future.

What N7 and Messiah don't see is the impact Steam already has had!

It's like the three blind mice from Shrek have been given access to the internet.

XBOne was being considered to be released as a diskless console, MS changed their minds last minute. This would of turned XBOne into a Steam machine FACT!

 

I play on xbox 1 have steam with over 200 games only thing im on fence with is do I get another ps4 had one but didnt like the games out but there are some great games coming next year or do I invest in a steam machine even tho I have a very hi spec pc (well
was when I built it last year)

I received my PS TV yesterday and bought it specifically to play Vita games on my TV.

It allows owners to play Vita, PSP and PS1 games and stream games from the PS4 to another TV. It does give users access to a large part of the PS older and handheld library but Valve won't be losing any sleep over it.

I honestly don't see how Sony or Microsoft can counter Steam's venture into taking the console market. The PC has always had the advantage in a huge game library, accessories, pricing model and a much larger player base and Steam's attempting to bring that
to your couch.

Microsoft and Sony may be in the business of building Steam Boxes in the near future.
