are you digital or physical this gen?

looking at my game library, i have 35 games waiting to be downloaded...and i only actually bought 3 of them. i did find one game reasonably priced at gamestop that i'll probably pick up at some point this week, but until then i guess i'm kinda grandfathered
in to being digital...

 

Vaynel; i don't know about the one, but on ps4 it basically pauses when watching a movie. haven't tried playing a game, but i assume it'll keep downloading since i'm not using the internet with minecraft (it's the only thing i have ready to go)

 

Whatever, Nintendo had dlc on the Super Famicom, you can still buy music cd's. It's simply just a choice and not the future or past. This thread is just asking what you prefer,,,,,,,,,,,,

 

Vaynel, the Xbox One does not DL like the Xbox 360. You can queue multiple Items but it only DL's the first (like the Xbox 360). The difference being is you can still use just about any other Online Feature
(like playing a MP Game or whatever) and the DL will continue in the background.

Unless someone has the absolute bottom of the barrel Internet, they should be fine DL'ing and doing whatever else they want to on the Xbox One all at the same time.

 

I still prefer a physical copy of my games.

I'm sure it stems from most gaming done on PC and wanting physical copy to be able to re-install when things go wrong. So far, with my XBox One, 2 games physical & 2 digital. The digital are the two that came with the "bundle".

I'm sure most additional purchases will be physical copys when possible

 

Weiand13, if I can ask how does a difference in the method of delivery negate one being "just in case"? For example, HDD crashes with Disc/ Install. Install on a new HDD. HDD crashes with Digital/ Install. DL on new HDD.

Yes but a Digital is still there to DL any time again. There is no advantage there by Disc alone. All of those also work just fine from Digital as well.

 

I'm a bit of both. I have about 9 Xbox Ones games and three games that I have downloaded from the EA Vault. My connection very quick at 120MB/s so downloading isn't a chore.

The last digital game I bought was Forza Horizon 2. My most recent purchase was Halo MCC on disc.

A really cool feature I do like is the fact that the disc installs are the same as the digital downloads. So if say a friend comes round and installs one of their games, then, later on, you decide you want it too, you can buy the digital version which unlocks
the installed game.

 

does the one let you play the game while it's still downloading? like downloading the starting area/levels first? that's like the best and worst of digital games this generation. on one hand you get into the game faster...on the other hand, well, i'm stuck
at a literal (in-game) checkpoint on infamous and have about 7 hours left until i can get back to it. i can only imagine that i'd probably be long done with installing it and deep into the action had i bought the game at gamestop or wherever...

 

I believe it can vary Game to Game but most will let you play some part of the Game. It's kinda silly though. Some Games it works better then others.

HMCC for example allowed you to play CE long before the DL was finished. Alien Isolation started to play but in about 5 minutes it was missing half of the opening space-ship (just empty space).

Destiny was the lamest. It "Ready to Start" prompted it's own In-Game Install. Wow that was lame.

 

anyone try playing farcry 4 or dragon age while they download? i'm gonna start one of those next...i'm hoping you get the first map, the hinterlands?, in dai with the quick loading cause i can easily see myself spending many hours just running around that
area...
