are you digital or physical this gen?

Wishing I had gone disc with AW. Two days in and I'm ready to trade/return it. Now I am stuck with it for good, lol.

 

^Lol, it's really bad CODukes4, I almost puke every time I hear the Narrator say "Now go out there and kill someone" or that stupid unemployment line comment. It is by far the most childish COD ever made.

 

Digital for me as i game share between consoles which is great plus i don't have to worry about discs getting damaged over the years. Not having to get up to switch games is also a bonus

 

Still rolling with physical. I don't really like the aspect of digital...yet.

 

I still don't get how the delivery method of Media Content is so important to some people. It's all pretty much Digital now. Do you want to DL or Install from Disc is the real question.

And no, the "space" argument is non existent. Both require space on a HDD. One requires additional space in real life cluttering up in the biggest of closets or wherever. The plastic trinket is dead.

Simple thing is that not everyone has the access to internet to quickly download 50gb. Why wait hours, maybe even a day, to download a game when you can have it installed from the disc in less than a half hour.

Also not everyone has unlimited internet. Many ISPs in the UK still have data caps, moving or upgrading isn't always an option.

Space becomes an issue with digital when you realise that the issue is tied to the internet point. Deleting a game when you need the same and reinstalling when you want to play is quick with a disc, not so quick when you take into account internet issues
that people may have.

It's easy to think that just because you don't have an issue that other people wont have it either. Sorry but that quite often is not the case.

Both forms of Distribution have pros and cons. What you claim as a "wait" can be stated for either.

If someone buys a Physical Disc on Release Date, they have to typically arrive 2 hours early (at most Game Stores) then wait until 12, then wait until their turn, then wait until they get home, then wait until the Game Installs.

If someone buys Digital they can begin their DL as soon as it is allowed on the XBL Marketplace, then simply wait till midnight of the day of it's release and play.

Let's say it is after release then. Someone who buys Physical still has most of the wait from above (going to a Store and using gas and time), getting home and waiting for the Install. The Digital does not need to use gas or their time and can simply begin
the DL (even with the slowest ISP) go to bed or simply do something else (because they're not driving to a Game Store) maybe even play another Game during that time and walla the "wait" was spent doing many other things that life has to offer.

As for ISP's with a cap, well that's their bad, get a better ISP that doesn't cap Service they pay them money for.

 

You ignore ordering online for physical items in your example.

I order online for a physical copy, often for a cheaper price than a brick and mortar store, and have it delivered to me for day of release. Where is the time cost and extra gas money from your example in that scenario?

Again with the ISP line you show that if you have that option, you believe everyone does. If it doesn't affect you, then it affects nobody. That's not the case is it though.

Vaynel, you're right I didn't include that method of purchase (it's still the same delivery method of Physical though). Let's go with it though.

First you click to buy (that's after going through a possible many different sites to save a buck or two. Now you click the purchase, now even with the fastest delivery Service known to man you wait no less then 23.5 hours before you can even begin to Install
it. Even the slowest of ISP's could have easily beaten that wait.

On top of it, you still have some lame little plastic Disc (and box) laying around the house until it is finally either lost, scratched or broken. Meh, sounds okay for you but I'll keep 100% Digital, thanks.

 

Mixed...depends on where the game is on sale (physical vs. digital) when I'm ready to buy the game. I don't trade in games so that doesn't influence my decision.

 

Out of 13 games I have, 4 are digital. I find physical copies are almost always cheaper - a lot cheaper, so it's a no brainer to buy them rather than digital. The digital games i have bought have been half price apart from DA:I and cheaper than the physical
disc.

 

Disc all the way unless something i want is available digital only or that good of a deal otherwise it won't take long to fill up the Xbox One memory.

 

For the most part I will try to go the route of physical this gen as well, since I prefer to have a physical copy in case anything bad goes down.

 

I've no problem with going all digital. My only issue was those folk who are dismissive other others who chose not to, or those who right off genuine issues other people have with comments
such as "oh get better internet."

Digital is the future, you wont get an argument from me about that. Problem is that the future isn't here yet for a great deal of people.

You make a good point about delivery times, but a question if I may. Is the One like the 360 where a download stops if you decide to play a game online?
