Are xbox one Game disk Region locked?

I live in Dubai, UAE and someone in india wants to gift me a Xbox one game. if he buys the disk from there, will it work in my xbox one in Dubai?

Hey chief,

Xbox one consoles are region coded to specific regions - game disks for the xbox one console are not coded to regions as per the above link.

Xbox one is only region free when it comes to disk games as disk games are regulated by local import laws

Download games are regulated also by international laws and your local laws

Games on Xbox One arent region locked. But for some it depends on the Game if its available in your region also. Most games will work based on personal experience but cant give a guarantee for that.

For 100% compatibility we always recommend purchasing games in the region you intend to play them in.

I don't think you fully understand what is happening

It's not against the rules unless you've use other methods to obtain it

HOWEVER WHAT you are doing is different and not related it isn't what you think it is

Digital and disk licenses are completely different

When assuming you talking about xbox 360 or older games they are region locked and will not install without circumvention

When you pop in the disk you aren't installing the digital version

You are installing the disk and queuing to download the patch that's why the digital one disappears when you remove the disk without installing the disk

You arent playing thr digital one

You will still need the disk ti validate the install to play

Xbox 360 games are region locked digitally not via disk which is console region locked which doesn't apply to xbox one

Umm Pakistan isn't even an xbox live region but yes xbox one games are region free but you still have to buy in region games can't be gifted from other regions since gifting is region locked

With mcc you cannot buy a disk as most of the content is online

well for one thing you cannot buy us blackops season pass if you do youd be wasting your money

first blackops disks are region locked and language locked

meaning the disks and the dlc languages must match

2nd the season pass dlc is region locked meaning you must make an account that matches your actual region to download it
