Are Xbox One controllers defective right away?

I never really complain about these things. But this is getting annoying. The first controller I had that came with my Xbox started to break within a year of owning it. It kept drifting up, even when it was sitting still. Made everything impossible to do.
So, with my two year warranty at a local store, took it back and traded it in. This second controller started showing signs of not working as the right analog drifts left and when I move it eight, it goes at half the speed.

So two days ago I took it back, again and got a new controller. I was playing Terraria today and was talking LB to go left in my inventory. Nothingwas happening. I noticed I have to press hard on the button for it to signal I'm pressing it. So not even a
week off the shelf and its not working properly. Its not like I don't take care of my controllers either, I do my best to never drop them, I always put them in a safe place when done. I don't bang them or toss them. However, it looks like I will be out again
to get a fourth Xbox one controller.

Defective Xbox one elite controllers

Just giving you a little feedback from my own accounts.

My Elite is working fine and I haven't seen any 'problem' reports of the Elite builds.

I do know I thought something was up and I had been putting the batteries in incorrectly (I didn't notice the polarization marks on the contacts). I put the batteries in correctly and off wee went. One thing I noticed playing some games (as another note
to remember), if triggers aren't working and you have set the short travel on the triggers that may affect the use of the trigger in the game (found this in Destiny and Warframe and The Division).

Defective Xbox one elite controllers

I had an elite controller for Xmas, it's left stick was very loose so I managed to arrange a replacement though Xbox service center using live chat.

I was very impressed with the service and it was free of charge.

However after waiting 2 weeks for the replacement....The replacement was also defective. In fact it was much worse than the original, the sticks where fine, but this one will not stay connected to the Xbox for more than 3 seconds. (I tried fresh batteries
and 2 different fully charged Xbox battery packs) I also tried all the methods to synchronize to the Xbox.

I have managed to arrange another replacement but they originally wanted to charge me for the service.

After talking with a helpful live chat person they wavered this charge. But it has now been 3 days and I am yet to receive my UPS shipping label.

I am now just being told to wait.

Am I just unlucky or are the elite pads poorly manufactured?

 

Someone has said what I have been pointing out for a few months now. The Xbox One controllers are poorly/cheaply made. I got sent out 5 defective day one controllers after sending the one that came with my console in. The most recent one came in yesterday
and right out the box they sent it in the left trigger hits something not allowing the trigger to move all the way down. Its a shock to me that they sent it to me in poor condition, meaning they don't inspect the controller before sending it out. I bought
a ps4 and the next step is to get rid of the Xbox One all together. I have had numerous problems with the controllers I bought from gamestop and walmart too, issues like triggers grinding, triggers squeaking, buttons not working, loose bumpers, controller
disconnects and a whole lot more, all I have been able to get out of microsoft is to send the controller into them at my expense.
