Are Xbox Gold Live Free Games accessible in Aust - or are the offers false advertising??

So I have once again had a free hour to try yet again to access the claimed backwards compatible free Xbox 360 game (currently Tekken 6) for my Xbox One. Yet again it asks for linked payment options - despite being free - but the kicker when I go to add
a credit card is that the address defaults to USA with no option to change. All my addresses - on Microsoft account, Xbox account and one the Xbox - are Australia. So I have found no way around it and no subject on any of the "support" forums that explain
this - the closest takes you to your Microsoft account where I have ensured all details are accurate and even added another card, only to go back via Xbox Live Gold to the 360 game again and find it has had no effect.

I have tried to make this work via both xbox one screens and process and also on pc / websites. Neither worked and all eventually came to the same screen.

I tried using the support FAQs and the online support bot - all without any relevance to this problem.

I even checked all the Xbox Live Gold details to see if there is fine print that says you cannot download direct to Xbox One, however their promoted claims are as follows:

Free games every month. Now that’s Gold.

Games with Gold titles for Xbox 360 are now playable on Xbox One, giving Xbox One owners more free games to play every month.

Therefore I am left assuming I am doing something totally stupid and that the support answer is actually staring me in the face . . . . or that this claimed offer is not readily accessible . . ..

The Xbox account would be the same for the One and 360, but the stores for each are technically separate. That's why I said the 360 side may be seeing your account as being in the US even though it isn't. Migrating your account would fix that issue.

Thanks. My Xbox profile and account is all set to Australia already. Appears to be 360 related - I don't have a 360 or account, am trying to get the Gold Free game showing on my Xbox One. Thanks!

Basically the fact that it's showing you items in the US instead of Australia is what you would be looking for. Everything else would look correct, it just causes issues with purchases. This has been a fairly common issue, although moreso when backwards
compatibility was first released. It's like wires just got crossed somewhere in the servers for people who either had not used a 360 before or had migrated their account region at some point.

Should be noted if you are using a popular VPN like google DNS or any VPN that would throw off the xbox settings

Which can cause problems with region locked content

Have you tried downloading using the xbox website? You can then have it automatically download to your console

Yeah tried that one and got the exact same address issue I was getting on the Xbox. That is what made me realise there is a bigger issue here. Thanks.
