Are we too connected?

Well, with the upcoming update GG won't need to mass message people, you got something to say that isn't overly important? Just post it on the activity feed. We'll see how it turns out, it may get lost in the shuffle if you have a huge list of friends. But
I do think we can click on anyone profile & see specifically what they were up to.

So next time GG watches a video he wants to share, he can post it at that moment.

We are too connected. I couldn't care less what people are doing that doesn't directly or indirectly effect me or anything I own. This is why I don't use anything remotely similar to Facebook or Twitter (outside of sweepstakes or developer interaction purposes).
If I wanted to know what someone is doing at any given time, I'd simply call and ask them. Maybe shoot a text if its at a late hour.

Some of you are too easily angered by such trivial things. I get the same mass messages from GG. I either ignore or respond and keep it moving. Not every person in the world is important enough to devote the mental resources required to ACTUALLY get upset
at them. Especially not over a show recommendation or a birthday notice lmao.

 

@Burst I think you confuse anger with being annoyed. I never got angry with GGs messages just annoyed. And your'e right either, delete, read or block. I went with option 3 as mass messages are annoying. And GG isnt the only person who Ive blocked for this,
another forum user constantly sent messages about game testing, gaming sites and his TA score. I wasnt mad just highly annoyed as I didnt care. And thats my point in everything. Not many people care about the anime Im watching or this cool YT channel I just
subbed to. But Im respectful enough not to bother anyone with ever little thing thats going on with me over xbox live. Thats what twitter and FB are for

 

Ill use myself as an example of how one should properly act with certain situations....

I am ranked #10 on the global leaderboard of Sixty Second Shooter Prime. I think thats a cool accomplishment. I am very proud of myself for that as Ive never been ranked that high on any games leaderboard. I didnt send out a mass message looking for pats
on the back an atta boys. I messaged aka scratch as we kind of have a rivalry in the game. I didnt message Sword Style because he could give 0 freaks about the game. Its all about knowing your target audience and who would be interested in what you have to
say.

 

Im not too connected as I got rid of my phone about 5 yrs ago and never looked back. Also never been on Twitter or Facebook.

 

gg doesn't seem as bad as some of you make him sound, although I really hate getting a mass message unless it's a holiday message, which I'm guilty of sending. I only pester my closest real life friends over dumb things, not people I barely know. And my
mom and I find plenty of dumb topics to talk about every night when I call to check on her since she lives in a cabin in the woods. The people on my friends list are just names to me with the exception of about 3 that I actually like, so they are fine sending
me a mass message. Maybe gg just needs to get out more.

 

I would say your only connected as you want to be, if someone is going to get mad their phone wakes them up guess they shouldnt install that feature. If you find something to be negative stop using it, its very simple really dont want to watch tv you turn
it off dont want to sit in the dark turn on a light.

 

Xbox Live is meant to be a social place, I agree. But dont you think its a little annoying to get spam messages about stupid stuff most people dont care about? You could(well not you GG but other people can)send me
an XBL message day or night, I wont get mad about it no matter the time. But getting messages about your birthday, some chicks twitch stream, having 20 friends online and not getting a party invite, or a silly documentary you watched are reasons why people
look at you strange. Mass messaging makes you seem needy. Oh its my birthday tell me happy birthday please. I watched this show will you watch it too so we can discuss it? Maybe you should back up on the M2AF and message only people who might be interested.

As much as I don't really like to say it, I have to agree with this. We have enough 'spam' in our lives, IMO.

Now it is true that it's easy enough to just ignore and/or delete the messages, like you said, GG. But the problem is, your interests, likes, dislikes are yours and they're unique
to you. Sure, others may have similar or even the same interests in some cases, but not everyone. Therefore, if you're sending out a bunch of M2AFs about every little thing in the attempt to share with a few who may be interested... well IMO, that's as close
to spam as one can get without it technically being spam.

In the entire 9 years I've been on XBL, I'm betting that the number of total M2AFs I have sent is barely into double digits. If you ask me, sending a M2AF should be done if it's
something that one can feel fairly certain all friends either will be affected by, or really should know. The way I see it... it's inconsiderate to send out mass messages regularly especially if only some people will find it interesting. Just because they
have to tools and can easily delete them doesn't make it any less so IMO.

 

I might have done a M2AF a few years ago, but generally I send it to the people that I know personally & most of the time they aren't 'in the know' when it comes to gaming news.

It is even worse now & I won't ever bother doing a M2AF because the list is too damn big & i don't see a way to easily do it on XB1 or Smartglass.

 

@24 Anger, annoyed, frustrated, bothered, *** off, etc, its all under the same umbrella to me. You give people the power or whatever the heck they are looking for (possibly in this case attention?) they have fulfilled their objective.

I'm a real chill dude that lives a real chill life so maybe its my massive amounts of indifference that makes me see it this way but outside of something life altering or will mess with my wallet, its really not worth my time unless I decide to make it so.

 

Yes we are over connected but that revolution started way long ago way before MS ever thought of the XBOne. Also there's a really good documentary on Facebook on Netflix.

Technology owns society these days especially Facebook. People put stuff on that site photos, personal details etc thinking they own it they don't. But people are obsessed with putting selfies info on there every minute of the day either via phone, console,
laptop,tablet. I hardly post anything to FB as I prefer my FB to be private to my desire.

People have sacrificed their privacy for technology! But like someone said MS are just catching up, people need to understand time differences when messaging on the One. I don't have the One or Smart glass set up on my phone. It's can only be a good
thing as I would hate to get alerts all the time via my phone. Not only that but it will have a further drain on power to the phone.

 

@Burst Im confused. So I shouldnt be annoyed at things I think are annoying? I live a real chill life too and take measures to continue my life is as chill as possible. Like blocking GG has made me less annoyed with him. If I hadnt Id continue to be annoyed
with him. Geek is an ok guy sometimes, I dont let my personal dislike of him linger over to the forums(most of the time) But Ill be damned if I am going to continue being annoyed by anyone(give them power/attention as you say)

 

I don't mind m2af at all.(I have only sent a couple myself) I just read and delete.
