    I was just reported for what is honestly something super mild. I got a 24 mute ban. I understand why I did, and I am not fighting it. It is like the first time I have sent hate mail in like 2 years so yeah, I guess it's fair. What I said to the guy who reported
    me was that his t-bagging gave me and my friend the strength to succeed. and then I thanked him. It was slightly more vulgar but you get the point.

    That being said, I frequently get hate mail, with many of them including messages such as "kill yourself" or "you are (removed the words that are usually put here because they are not at all appropriate)." I report these, as well as report people who intentionally
    act out against me or my friends (such as team killing, intentionally throwing, or quitting competitive games early) and I try to save reports to what really warrants it.

    I have to report people for things like that, but I am not sure anything has ever been done. I am assuming it has sometimes, since I don't ever see those people again, but I never get notified. I guess, if we are supposed to get notified, why are comments
    telling me to kill myself and various other offenses blown over when my pretty mild "haha I won" but with one vulgar word get me banned? I don't know, I feel like it has been a little unfair, but maybe that is just me. Maybe things are being done. Plus this
    is my first offense in 7 years so I think I am doing pretty well.

    Also I thought if you have a good reputation and hardly ever get reported that they will warn you before taking immediate action, but I never got warned. Maybe that was changed a while back.

    The reports are handled by our enforcement team which isn't an active team here on the Forums, but on their website: they actually have a section
    'Complaints & Enforcement feedback'. On this section of the website it does state that on certain occasions you may receive feedback messages, here's a part of the article;

    ["Every day players alert us to potential Code of Conduct violations, prompting investigations that often result in enforcement action. Though the impact of your complaint may not be immediately clear, we are listening, and we want you to know
    that you have been heard!


    To help emphasize the importance that reports play in the enforcement process, XBLPET may send the following message if we take action on your complaints:

    “Thanks for helping make Xbox Live safer for everyone! We took action on one or more of the recent complaints you filed. For more information: www.xbox.com/live/complaint-feedback”

    It's actually pretty rare to get the thank you message from the enforcement team, but every report gets investigated, so even if you don't get a message, they've looked into it and taken the appropriate action.

    There's actually never been warning sent. The code of conduct and terms of service you agree to when you sign up are considered your warning.

    You may sometimes receive a XBL message telling you that they acted on something you reported.

    It's best not to respond to someone with vulgar words as that may be what they are hoping to provoke from you so they can report you. It's best to just ignore them or block communication with them if you don't want to hear from them again.

    AFAIK, the enforcement team doesn't send warnings. If you've done something wrong and they act on it you will likely find that the punishment becomes progressively longer with each additional infraction. The first action is usually 24 hours in duration,
    consider that your warning and try not to repeat the offense in future.

    Thanks for the heads up. I felt pretty betrayed because none of my reports got that thank you for reporting message, but i just got banned for something pretty minor in comparison to what i have to just deal with .

    Yeah, I never respond to anyone who sends me a message who isn't a friend. I joked around with a random player after a match once, then repeated his insult followed by a question mark and "lol" and got a 24 hour coms ban for hate speech. I tried to appeal
    it and nothing happened. Lesson learned... report every single message you get from non friends.

    I've never received a message from XBL but my son did saying something like " thanks for making xbl safe" or something like that.
