Are things getting better for the xb1?

There's no disc drive problem with the XBox ONE.

I think that Looney is Crazy.

 

I've had mine since release and not had an issues yet, apart from the Kinect stopped working, but that's no biggie to me.

I've also noticed the service has been a lot more stable in recent months, still has the occasional issue, but my friends list is generally always there now when it was dropping off nearly every day. I also tend to miss some of the big issues during peak
periods though being on the opposite side of the world.

 

I've heard a reasonable amount of people with Disc Drive problems, whether they are real or not I don't know. One of the benefits of owning an xb1 is the lack of concern needed about overheating etc etc, it's a monster sized box, I can only guess that the
only problems would be mechanical like the br and hdd.

 

Consoles have always had a fair amount of optical drive problems.

The Original xbox had 6 different optical drives, and all 6 had issues of one form or another.

All 360's as well had optical drive problems. Even the slim and E models.

So does the X1, but from what I read. Their problems was mostely not loading the disc all the way in, and so read errors occured. One guy solved the problem by holding the console up in front while loading disc's, while another solved his problem by slapping
the top of the console. While still another solved his by returning the console for an exchange.

Even the PS1 2, 3, and 4 have these problems.

Long story short. Optical drives, on either current gen consoles will develope load/read problems.

 

I haven't heard anyone else having disc drive problems with their Xbox One's since Mid-2014, so yes Microsoft fixed these disc drive problems.

 

My first X1 had a disc drive issue, wouldn't accept the disc.... haven't used a DD since...

 

There was an issue with the gears in the drive not meshing properly. Usually due to rough handling in transport or at home. Like someone mentioned, a slap to the top of the console 'USUALLY' fixes it.

To be honest, i've got so few discs that the understandable wear and tear issues don't really apply.

Day One owner too.

 

Lol LostKauz. When people spell it "disk" I think of a square disk that was used in the early 90's lol.

I've only heard of a few issues with hard drives but like was mentioned earlier people with issues are the loudest even if it's only a few.

Day 1 here and no issues.

When we were kids, my brother and I watched the Weird Science TV show since we found it funny. However, we never got the chance to see the original film, which we rectified last night - in it, 2 boys bring a woman to life using their computer, which was
a computer from the 80s, complete with square disks and all! Just seeing that was all that was needed to make my brother and I start laughing. It was definitely a film that lived up to its name (it was WEIRD, I tell ya!), but seeing Robert Downy Jr. play a
school bully who wore tan shorts that were pulled up Steve Urkel-style (a 90's reference there for those of you too young to understand) while also having his shirt tucked in, along with a jacket was an absolute hoot. Ah, the 80's... Good times.

 

I had an issue with my disc drive. I was setting up my kinect and was leaning toward the back of the console. I accidently touched the eject button and my game this came out. As i went to remove the disc, it started to go back in when i grabbed it. It started
having a grinding sound and wouldn't read the disc anymore on first try after that, yet other discs work fine.

 

I think there were a pretty small handful of people who had the grinding disk drive issue on launch. I haven't heard much about it since other than an odd one here or there. I'd say it's gotten better. Manufacturing products isn't flawless in any company,
there's bound to be a lemon out there every now and then. But warranties are good for stuff like that.

 

I'm on my 5th xbox one,the previous 4 all had disc drive failures.

I wouldn't say it's a widespread issue though.

As mentioned,it's an electrical product & all electrical products will have a small number of them that break.

 

And in fairness Badger your Xboxs get a right caning judging by your GS! ;-)
