Are they really an indication!

Killed hundreds of people with 100k+200+ gamerscore. A myth...GS...lol...

 

Achievements are good I think. I don't ever use them to judge a person on their game but I like to sometimes check out someones history and see if they have a hard achievement for a game I see they have played. As for the number on the whole, I think this
late into the implementation of G, that it's kind of hard to determine. Though that's just my opinion

 

In my experience the higher GS the easier kills....

 

I don't think they are as a whole, but if someone has every achievement in games like Ninja Gaiden 2, then I think they are pretty good.

^^ That took me about 5 hours straight to get it.

 

I don't really pay any attention to people's thoughts/feelings about me (in regards to my gamerscore/tag). I (personally) enjoy completing the games, especially if it's a game like Fable Anniversary with all of the silly/fun achievements.

 

As I said before, for me anyway it all depends on the game,

At the moment I have over 1300g on Ryse, just over a 1000g on Forza 5, to honest though it wasn't that hard to get this, just time consuming.

On Trials Fusion though, I'll be happy if I get 400g on it lol

 

I personally think achievements (and trophies) are detrimental to gaming to the point that I have turned off notifications, so I never know I am getting them any more. I just assumed they were created for 2 reasons, to gather statistics for devs & MS, and
to tie people to a single profile. If people like them or think they have value tho , then more power to you. If I remember correctly tho, the reason the OPs gamerscore was called into question to begin with was the he himself was questioning someone elses
legitimacy of posting on this forum (if Im wrong feel free to correct me OP). Happy gaming all!

 

You guys seem to be harping on the misinterpreted notion that gauging someone on their GS is a bad thing.

It's not like that. If I look at someone at they have a GS of 1,000,000...it's only natural to think they put a lot of time into their games....regardless if they are playing "Barbie Dressup".

Same goes for someone like me...with only 10K....just the opposite.

If you act on it and say "That guy has a low GS - I hate him"...well, yeah...thats not cool.

But no one said you can't gauge someone and then say "Hey....so you have 1,000,000 GS....you must really love games?" and then find out they their job is 8 hours a day to review and get achieves for a website and hates games.

Same can go the opposite way. No one said you can't look at me and say "Hey, you only have 10K....you must not play a lot of games?" and I would tell you that I just didn't play my 360 a lot but that I play mostly on my PC and love games.....and then we
could get to know eachother.

This whole political correctness thing is a waste. It's only natural to prejudge someone based on criteria given such as a GS. It's if you hold on to that as law and miss out on meeting new ppl....just b/c of a GS where it's wrong.

As for skill....I don't think I've ever heard anyone say GS and skill go together...thats just ridiculous.

 

I think it has more to do with the amount of games played than anything. However, I do like game achievements overall, for my own sense accomplishment (along with score/points).

 

I think skill itself is a rather hard thing to determine, if at all, regardless of gamerscore. There are simply too many uncontrolled variables to account for...
