Are these upscaling artifacts I'm seeing?

So I've been playing Metro redux lately and I've noticed these faint vertical lines that you can see on dark areas of the screen. I also have noticed it in watch dogs. I don't see it in games that are 1080p so I assume it's an upscaling issue. Here's an

Why is there so much hate for the X1?

Its easy to tell the difference between 1080P native and 1080P upscaled due to the upscaling artifacts.

Anyone here just google upscaling artifacts, I see them a lot on my Xbox-one.

Xbox one S 1080p and 4K (Games)

are you upscaling some TVs do that you have to set it to game mode

Xbox one s can only do 1080p upscaling can cause artifacts regardless of system even ps4

If you had a Xbox one x you can do 4k

Ps 4 pro only upscaled and can cause issues

Hi ii LegitZ v2,

Sorry you're having issues with your video. I don't think the vertical lines are a normal thing, and it could be something game related or hardware related. First can you try using a different HDMI cable? It could be something simple with the signal. If
you experience the same issues with a different cable, then try using a different TV. If you experience the issues with both a separate cable, and television let us know so we can try to give you some more steps to try.

I've tried different cables and tvs and still have this issue. Is it my xbox? I wouldn't think so because I don't have this problem with other games

Well if it's not a cable or the TV then it could be the Xbox. The picture was a little hard to see EXACTLY what the issue was. Perhaps if you have a friend with an Xbox and/or that game, you could see if it's happening on a different console. I don't think
there would be a display settings that would do this. If there is it would be the hz, but again I don't
think that's the case.

So 1080p is better than 4k upscale?

in that you arent garentees artifacts if you upscale

Artifacts can show up in fast moving pictures or you sitting farther then 10feet from the tv ps4 pro has that issue also because it's not native

4k will always be better when you have a uhd source

But since xbox one games aren't uhd you have to resort to 1080p or deal with artifacts if they show up

Set the TV to gamemode

And movies when playing uhd discs
