Are there controllers that only work for xbox 360 and not for pc?

Just that the thread name says.

I ask this because I recently bought an Xbox 360 controller (2nd from some guy's webshop) and it doesn't work on my pc (64bit Win7) (or any other pc/laptop).

So I mailed the guy I bought it from, and he says that the controller I bought DOES NOT work on the pc, only on the Xbox 360.

Controller randomly not working for Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racig

So far it seems to only be for this one title. I only have wireless controllers and don't know anyone with an xbox 360 to try the game on. There was only the one controller activated and not working for the one button, after restarting the system it did
work again, but the next time we tried to repeat it, it didn't work. It seems to be a game of roulette as to which controllers are going to work every time the xbox is turned off.

Using a logitech Momo Racing wheel/pc on xbox 360 slim

That controller is not supported by the Xbox 360. To my knowledge there are no wheels or controllers from Logitech that work on the Xbox 360 Platform.

I believe you need to download a driver in order for your controller to be compatible with your PC. If I can find it I will post a link to it, otherwise sorry.

Is the controller a wireless controller or wired? If it is wireless, how are you connecting it? If by using the play & charge kit, then the Xbox 360 controller will not work, as the cable is only recognized on PC for charging only. You need to use a Xbox
360 Wireless adapter for PC to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to your PC.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking but from the title, are you asking if an Xbox One controller will work on an Xbox 360 S? If that's what you are asking, then no, that would not work. Xbox One controllers only work on an Xbox One console and Windows
PC. Xbox 360 controllers only work on an Xbox 360 console and Windows PC.

To use an Xbox 360 controller on its own on a PC, it must a wired controller. It does not matter if the USB port is 3.0, USB 2.0 devices will work on USB 3.0 ports.
The Xbox 360 Play and Charge can not send controller data back to the PC. It will only charge the battery, or power the controller if no battery is present. A play and charge for 360 controllers is a charger, nothing
more.

Xbox 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. To use a Xbox 360 wireless controller on a PC, you'll need an Xbox 360 gaming receiver.

Only the Wireless Xbox One controllers can be made wired with the correct Micro USB sync and charge type cable.
