Are there any open-world racing/driving games?

Greetings,

I am looking for a racing or driving game that allows my 8-year old daughter to drive around the city with few or no restrictions. She just wants to wander around aimlessly and see pretty cities and night scene and such.

Is there a driving game that will allow open world driving?

Forza Motorsport 5 Vs Horizon 2

They are radically different from each other. FM5 is a circuit racing game. Horizon is an open world racing game. Graphics and gameplay are great in both games. The real decision is whether you only want circuit racing (FM5) or whether you want open world
racing with street races, circuit races, off road races, speed traps/cameras, etc...

They are both interesting to me - so I have both.

 

Forza Horizons 2 would be your best bet, The Crew is open world but does have a story with some colourful characters and language I believe. FH2 is just pure prettiness!

 

Forza Horizon 2 would be your game. You can just wander around the whole time and the sceneries are great.

I love Forza Horizons 2 for it's open world. The scenery and the tracks are beautiful.

 

Forza Horizons 2 is fantastic and can't recommend it enough. That game brought me back to loving racing games.

I am really glad that everyone is enjoying Forza Horizon 2, but quite honestly I don't like the way that the cars handle at all.

Despite my heavy tuning in Forza Motorsport 5 of my AWD Ford GT, I still prefer the handling of the cars in Need For Speed Carbon.

Need For Speed Carbon has 100% arcade handling while Forza Motorsport 5 (my guess is that the cars handle the same way in Forza Horizon 2) is a hybrid of Arcade and Simulator).

I love Forza Motorsport 5, but after getting a feel for the way that the cars handle, I am going to stay away from the series from now on.

Please don't be mad / angry at me for my opinion about how the cars handle and that I find the cars in Need For Speed Carbon easier to control.

So which game does the best job with driving through cities at night?

 

If you want cities & driving across a dumbed down map of the U.S. then The Crew is the game to get.

Forza Horizon 2 is all about driving around a small-ish map of the Riviera in Europe.

FH2 has more cars & better car handling but The Crew has the bigger map with a bit more variety,just.

 

The Crew is open world. It's a map of the United States. Scaled down, but takes about an 1.5 hours to drive from east coast to west coast. Plenty of sites to see. You just have to complete the first few intro races and then your free to roam the whole map.

 

Forza Horizon 2. That is all she will need. Simple, fun. And beautiful set pieces.

 

If Burnout Paradise makes the backward compatibility list then I'd say that is a game worth checking out.
