Are the Xbox One parental Controls worthless, or am I missing something ?

So, I went through the bother of creating an email account for my 6 year old kid, and then a live account, which Microsoft demands for parental control setup on XB1. Set the content to be blocked at 7+ and thought all was well. Sure enough, If I log in as
my kid, and try to start my 16 or 18+ PEGI rated games, he's thrown back to the home screen. Though all was well, or was it ?

I signed myself and my kid out. So at this point no one is signed in, just like when I start up my Xbox one. The it struck me... Will he bother to log himself in? He's only 6y. old, and he doesn't give a crap about any online achievements (or comprehend
the meaning of it). I then checked a few games, and saw that all the 16/18+ games start just fine. Some of them demands that I sign in, others do not. An example of a game my 6y. old kid can play on my XB1 when no one is signed in is Kille Instinct Season
2. An initial request is given to sign in, but you can press B to overcome this request. Then you're given a warning that no game play is saved, and there he goes. 16+ PEGi rated game, wide open for my 6y old kid.

So..I've been looking high and low for any way to set up some parental controls on the Xbox one itself, like the setup for Xbox 360 (which works wonderfully). How can I manage this? I just don't want my kid to be exposed to bloody gore and violence.

I'd also like some more control over what can be done when there's no one signed in. Is it possible to lock the settings Down ?

Why does my 6y old kid see all the games he's too young to play, when he's logged in with his account. It's confusing, and I think they should be automatically opted out from his display of games.

can't download because of parental controls in xbox live

i can't download a gift car in Forza4. says it's because of parental controls in xbox live but it doesn't tell me which setting. my controls are all set to allow or all content so i'm not sure what i'm missing

 

This is definitely a flaw in the system, but there is a way to prevent this from happening. That is to set up the instant sign in. You can set the console to automatically sign into the account with the parental filters enabled.

Here's how;

• When you start the Xbox One console up, sign into the account you want to enable instant sign in.
  
• Press the 'Menu' button (small button with 3 horizontal lines).
  
• Now select "Setting"
• On the "Settings" page, under "About Me", you'll see the "Sign-in, security & passkey" option. Click on that.
  
• On this page, there will be an "Instant Sign-in" option, which should be set to "Nobody". Click on that, and chose "Use Instant Sign-in".
  

Now when you turn on the console, it will sign into the account by itself, and enabling the parental options automatically. You are able to sign out of that account, or sign into a different account at any time, if you chose.
