Are the controller issues universal, or are newer models better?

I've owned my Xbox One since March 2014. Since then I've gone through 2 controllers. Both had analog stick issues. The first one, which broke after about 4 months, has the left thumbstick constantly drifting up. The second one, which just started going
bad last week, has the right thumbstick not always work when pushing it to the right.

If I buy a new controller, will it last me more than 6-8 months? Have these thumbstick issues been fixed? Or is this just something I'll have to buy a couple times a year? I've never had issues this frequently with any other controllers in the past 25 years
I've been gaming. (except maybe the Atari 5200)

    :)

  2. Xbox 360

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your 360. When you say you're having problems calibrating the Kinect, what are you using to select Yes/No? Do you have a wired Xbox 360 controller or a wireless one? If you have a wireless one, is it fully charged
and synced with the Xbox 360 properly?

    This information might help;

If you're trying to use a universal media remote instead of a controller to play your media:

    support.xbox.com/.../xbox-360-universal-media-remote-help

    Hope that helps.

    Can not redeem codes

The codes are universal so even with new codes you would run into region issues since Gears 1 and 3 are region locked. In order to download the, your account region has to match your physical location and you have to be in a region where the games are available.

    Hi King David 73,

Sorry you've had a string of bad luck with your controllers! I personally have 4 controllers and have had no issues with any of them. Your issues do sound isolated, and they also sound like bad hardware. If they're within the 3 month window you can exchange
them through the warranty program at the link below. To answer your question, newer controllers are not going to be any better or worse than controllers that came out day one. They all have the same hardware. Also make sure you keep the firmware up to date
to resolve other issues. Like I said though, unfortunately the issues you describe are generally hardware related and as such you'll need to have them repaired or replaced.

    Replace Controllers via Warranty

    Update Controller Firmware

Note : The link for the firmware says "to update for stereo headset",,,, but the process is the same.

I tried going through the service center when my first controller broke, but the person I was talking with was not very helpful and wasn't answering the questions I had, so I just gave up. (It was the Titanfall controller and I wanted to make sure if I
sent it in that I'd receive a new / repaired Titanfall controller and not some generic one).

Since both controllers are out of the 3 month window, it seems like I'm out of luck. I have 3 cousins with Xbox Ones and all three of them have had the same issues I have. They're all on their second, third, or fourth new controllers because of various
    things breaking on them...

If the hardware hasn't changed, it looks like I'll just have to buy a couple a year.

    Just an idea for Xbox

If they did it and the current models retained their performance capabilities, what's the issue, Blue? You'd be getting the same games, with the same performance on the current models, and newer games too. Just there'd just be newer models floating around
that'd be capable of slightly better.

The length of last-gen's life-cycle won't be repeated, and R&D'ing, producing, marketing, and establishing a brand of a new console would be way more work and costly than just releasing revised Xbox One models with its installed-base, game library, and strong
    brand already in place.

I don't get why people would be ticked off. It's not like a revised model would render the X1's we have now defunct. Just like the Elite controller doesn't render standard controllers obsolete. People are already talking about the X1 Elite bundle's improved
HDD. That's no different. Doesn't bother me a jot. {=D

I ain't worried whatever the plan is for newer models. S'all so far off it don't matter. Better res/power in games could be delivered to newer models in patches from devs that older models wouldn't get. Meh.

    Xbox one Controller

The newer xbox one s controllers have bluetooth. have you connected the it to windows 10 device. If your controller is the newer model it could be connecting to the other device.

    Arctis 7 headphones

That's true, you will need a newer model controller if your controller doesn't have a 3.5mm jack
