Usually team based game chat involves one guy yelling and calling everyone idiots because he is the only one who knows the correct strategy that everyone else should follow.

  2. Yes.

    .

If you doubt this, please refer to the audience that replied when Microsoft first announced the XBox One at E3.

If you still have doubts after their reaction, then I can't help you further.

Ever notice that right before a match someone always belches or yawns really loud? Do they think we want to hear it?

  5. haha... yeah I've definitely become less social. I enjoyed party chat for a few years back in 2006-2010?? I still do it with certain friends but never leave the party open because it always leads to some conflict; I'll be talking to a friend and another
will pop in and immediately dominate the conversation without first feeling the waters. Would people find this behavior acceptable with a group of real friends? If you were at a club with a couple friends and someone ran over to you and started shouting
and making silly noises and belching, he'd probably get tackled and threatened. Teaching children manners at an early age can go a long way in life.

BizarroMantis: I am in complete agreement. If I get into a lobby/game where it is obvious that 2 or 3 are friends and chatting I will first say hello and then measure the response. Its not hard to see if they are open to including you.

I would like to see the look on parents faces if they ever heard their little "flower" use language that would get a sailor arrested.

I also prefer parties to be closed for invite only as having friends of friends popping in, then their friends joining which can soon lead to an out of control party. I just can't stand big parties where everyone is talking over each other getting louder
and louder fighting for a word.

If you are not on my friends list why would I want to talk to you? Its not about being shy or anything but I dont want to hear the stupidity that kids and most adults spew when playing on XBL

Heck, there are a few of my friends I don't really want to talk to either. Some of them have been on my list too long though and I can't seem to bring myself to delete them. Tried to delete one a month ago, two days later he send a friend request. Sigh.

People tend to hang out with who they want when they want. I agree that you usually can't maintain game chat for very long before it becomes static garble that's why Party chat is a better channel. Some peps will be social and nice others the total opposite
(which I don't really like). It's more helpful to have friends playing with you. When you play with randoms anything can happen.

    .

Don't forget your playing with different people from who are older or younger than you from different backgrounds and countries. What kind of cracks me up is when someone starts speaking French German or some other language. Xbox Live is a diverse place
which helps keep it unique and fun from what other platforms offer. Even some of my friends trash talk but it's not the really bad kind I don't allow that kind on my friends list. Expect squeakers and peps who play their music cuz they want your attention
or are bored (sometimes I even do this). My friends list is full too (makes me feel popular Are gamers being less social than they already are? :D) but only really get along with like 1/2 of the peps on my list. There are times when I don't want to talk and my friends or peps online are saying in their heads
"we know you have a mic... use it".

  11. It really depends on the circumstances, I generally don't like to chat at all while playing games and if there's like 4 people in the party already that's too hectic for me. I guess I've just become really partial to my chatpad.

    -

Though overall I think I've become a way more social gamer because before the 360 I never had a console with a friends list that I could send messages to etc.it doesn't feel like such a lone affair anymore.

Gaming as a whole has lost that spark of being friendly, when the xbox 360 first released it was cool, people chatted nicely and had a laugh, there were the odd arguments but ended up laughing with each other at the end, people spoke to each other and that
is what made online gaming fun, then party chat came out and call of duty modern warfare and it all went down hill from there. I miss the old days where we played for FUN. Online has become full of virtual gangs and WAY TO SERIOUS GAMERS.

When I started online in 07 it was cool telling people hey your hd switch is not on and go to your component tv channel, wher are u from ? etc. Now as I am 34 post Chris Hansons to catch a predator I cant ask no one where they are from comes off creepish
    lol things changed Indeed.

  15. ^ charming. I got into a party chat with some old friends last night and we played R6V and I was reminded how excellent a party chat could be with people you know and like. Inviting a random stranger to your party is like inviting a random stranger to an
empty seat near you at a pub. It's a roll of the dice what kind of personality you'll find. I'd rather invite a friend to sit in the seat, but that's just personal preference.

Are gamers being less social than they already are?

It's on the decline and has been for years. I personally prefer being in party chat for several reasons.

    -

    1. I don't have to listen to idiots doing stuff like what Bizarro mentioned.

    2. The sound qaulity is better in party chat than it is in game chat.

    3. Privacy as I don't exactly want randoms overhearing some things during the course of a conversation.

    4. Being able to talk to friends that are playing different games.
