Are developers being overworked?

As the title says, do you lads and lasses think game developers are being overworked? I''ll give my opinion on this later as I'm at work and don't fancy typing on my phone.

Are the developers going to fix this issue with ppl not being able to download?

Its possible, but I dont know what the working conditions are at each developer to say.

 

Every job type and profession has people being overworked. Sometimes at work I feel overworked and other times there isn't much to do. It's been like that at every job I've had.

If these developers are being overworked I don't feel bad because they at least have jobs. It's not like slave labor or some Taiwanese kid making my pair of Nike runners for 1 dollar a week.

 

The employees at infinity ward,activision,treyarch and rockstar must be seriously over worked,otherwise they would fix their games.

 

This will only happen if they over promise or sign up for a ridiculous schedule they know they can't meet.

Publishers make games. Developers code them but they are commissioned by the Publisher to make the game.

When it goes well you often get a great game.

When it doesn't go well you get something like "Colonial Marines" or the nasty rumours surrounding Bondi Beach's experience with Rockstar over "LA Noire".

 

Game developers generally love what they do and get paid well. I don't really think they'd see it as being overworked. My great grandpa helped to build the Hoover Dam and died on the job when he and another guy fell off a scaffolding and they probably only
made a couple dollars a day for their work.

 

I think some developers are being made to overwork because of set deadlines which some devs can't reach without working overtime and it sometimes shows in the game, but then you also have developers who are more than happy to
work overtime.

 

Generally speaking. I'd say no. I've spoken to a lot of developers and I'm friends with a few people who work in the industry. It has UPS and downs but never heard one say they're overworked. Work hard, yes. If anything underworked because a lot of studios
seem to shut down.
