How has it become acceptable for gaming companies to put out barely operable products? When I turn on my Xbox One, there's a 25% chance that I'll have to hard restart the system because it immediately freezes, blacks out, fails to find my network, refuses
to sign me in after acknowledging it's me, Kinnect won't work, Apps won't open, buttons don't respond, or anything else imaginable. On top of that games barely work on release, or after an update. Every big-name game released on the One is riddled with bugs
and glitches that make it near impossible to play, and each update released to improve the game ruins it in a different way. Games that have been released 6 months ago are still suffering major gameplay issues, and the companies all remain unresponsive to
the issues. Instead, they ramble on an on about how great their community is, promise great additions, and showcase carefully selected players to talk about how amazing something is. When these companies finally do fix something, the problem tends to persist,
and it makes me wonder why we keep shoveling money at these people. So again, why have we been tolerating these companies that keep producing games and consoles that won't work properly even after a considerable amount of time and updates has past?

    :)

Games are too dark Are Consoles And Games Going Too Far? :(

    Hello,

I use HDMI to connect my Xbox 360 with my TV (Samsung SyncMaster TA550). I've checked my Xbox settings, game settings and TV settings, but still: the games are definitively too dark. It's okay (not perfect), if the scene is well illuminated. But in spaceships
(ME3 e.g.) or caves (Tomb Raider e.g.) it's very hard to play, barely possible. And there are a lot of such scenes.

Thought it's standard. But a few hours ago I walked with Lara Croft through one tomb, dark as always; suddenly everything looks great and I am very sure, that's the standard, not the brightness/contrast I thought it was.

As I walked a minute (or 30 seconds) around (and the lighting conditions changed) the effect was over and everything was too dark again.

Do you have any idea, what's the problem? I'll try to change HDMI-port, HDMI-cable and so on, but I did before with no effect.

The reset of the display settings has worked. After that I just had to adjust the brightness a little bit and now it's fine. I'll test it with ME3 in the next days, but it seems to work. Thanks!

First off the issue about your Xbox "constantly freezing" this is because it's set on
Instant on mode. This means, EVERYTHING keeps running in the background, which uses a lot of ram and processing power. In order to free this up you either need to close them all one by one or
Powercycle your Xbox so your cache is cleared and all background games and apps are closed freeing up all resources.

"But I shouldn't have to do that, they said you can leave it on all the time"

Yes I know but still, you either need to live with the fact that an electronic device needs to be fully turned off from time to time, or you need to put your console in
    Power saving mode.

    Instant on mode

    Pro's

    • Background downloads
    • Games resume where you left off
    • Apps load quicker because they have been running in the background
    Cons

    • Will lock up/lose the required amount of resources to start a specific task
Powersaving mode has the opposite, you have to choose.

Info on how to change powermode can be found here: support.xbox.com/xbox-one/system/change-power-settings

As for gaming companies releases games filled with bugs, it's not the developer's fault all the time. Most of the time it's the publishers, the people who fund the game who want to earn their money back. They don't care about bugs on release, as long as
they are fixed or attempted to be fixed depending on the contract the dev has signed so that they can earn money. Because let's face it, nobody works for free and the game industry is a bunch of companies like any other.

Unfortunately you or I as a single person can't do anything against the companies that release broken games. Especially those games that have a new release every year (I won't call names) that get sold by the millions. As long as millions of copies are being
sold and the majority of people don't complain, nothing will change

  5. Well said fearednightmare, Internet killed the games industry with the availability of patching at a later date (the c64 didn't have that issue games worked or no one bought them[rType being one of the exceptions lol])

You can't really compare the c64.

    Games were tiny in comparison.

The c64 had only 64kilobytes of RAM. The screen memory would have taken around 16kilobytes of that leaving less than 48k for games.

A save file on a modern console can use far more memory than an entire game did on the c64.

I don't blame the internet either as I noticed bugs on ps2 games which didn't support patching. You just had to put up with those.

Like fearednightmare said most of the blame goes with the publishers who are often too eager to get games out in time.

I also agree with him on instant on mode. I personally think it's more trouble than it's worth and normally use energy saving.

    How far is too far?

    Uh-huh.

Responding at all regardless of what some random says after you get on the microphone "trash talking" does not follow any good "rule of thumb."

Maybe its time to start playing without your mic?

    How far is too far?

Sorry but calling him a MORON after he wished my mom dead ... was the least i could do even under the good "Rule of thumb -Don't respond" ... Another Good "Rule of thumb"- You can say what you want about me See if I care That ain't gonna get me worked up
But I'll draw the line Every time when it comes to the things that I love So one slip of the tongue 'bout my dog or my mama Or my woman Or this country that I proudly serve You'll see a side of me man That you d*** sure don't wanna Cause them there's fightin'
words in arm reach of randoms of course!!
