Are banned gamertags and inactive gamertags going to be released some time this year?

there's a few tags I've been wanting for ages but they are in use by either banned or dormant accounts, hopefully there will be a reset but I've heard no news of one.

Original gamertag is inaccessible & GLITCHED due to a inactive spaced version

Inactive spaced gamertags should be removed and released. They are inactive, 100 percent inactive place holding gamertags.

Thanks for posting1 We're unable to reset Gamertags over the forums, however keep in mind that inactive Gamertags are released every 5 years, but only if they've been inactive. Since these threads can turn into Gamertag request threads, this will be closed.

Doesn't work like that anymore.

As from about Sept/Oct last year if a gamertag does not log in for 5 years it is then made available.

You also need to remember that gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so you can not be certain whether a gamertag is in use or not.

I believe when they released some of the original gamertags a few years ago they announced that after a certain time of inactivity, certain gamertags would become available.

Earlier this year Microsoft released some inactive gamertags from the Original Xbox Live service.

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. It is up to Microsoft as to when unused gamertags become available to the masses. After a certain amount of time where the Gamertag is inactive, the gamertag will then be released.

Also, 3 years ago Microsoft released a million inactive gamertags to the public. I'm hoping they do that again soon!

Some gamertags/aliases is not linked to gaming accounts. It is most likely to be linked to one of the other products that Microsoft offers.

They do however have a time that they reintroduce some inactive gamertags periodically, unfortunately we do not know when they will be doing it again.

They don't do mass releases of inactive gamertags any more.

As from last year if a gamertag doesn't log into any Microsoft service for 2 years it is then freed up.The earliest any inactive tag would be made available is next year.

I've just searched that gamertag & Ryka was active 4 days ago & unlocked a achievement on Dance Central so the gamertag is being used.
