Are all of the upcoming Xbox One bundles bad news for the Kinect?

I don't know about that DaveyBoy. I think people do understand what Kinect is/does, they just simply don't want it.

 

I never use Kinect, my children do, it's just not my thing, and it's annoying when others say I'm missing out, I'm NOT, I do not wan't to talk to my telly, I do not want to tell Peggle when to fire, I do not want to lean in BF4,

I appreciate some do, and that's fine, I respect that you enjoy doing things like that,but please don't tell me I'm missing out when I am not, I use my Xbox One to game, and Kinect games don't interest me, so I'm not missing out.

 

I said I because I was talking to someone the other day who was going to get a bundle, when I said you don't get kinect he said it doesn't matter he didn't use it, when I said you don't use voice commands, he said its not a problem it will work through his
headset.........

(i know the numbers will be small but they are there)

The thread was about these bundles being the end of kinect, and I don't think this is the case, yes there are people that are not interest, and there are people who are, and there are lots of people in the middle, but these games dont use it, and both are
design by companies with none kinect visisons, that doesn't mean other developers see the potential. And i very much doubt its the end.

As I said in another post I don't see kinect as a stand out controller you know about, I expect it will be a sit there unnoticed and feed the console information so the game can use it to dictate things in the game, it might be a while before its properly
utilized IMO. Allthough it could certainly be used more motion based.

 

GG, don't be so snarky. It always comes down to preference, choice, likes and dislikes...

None of it is objective. It's all subjective...in the end, money/sales and the marketplace decide which products live and which ones don't.

I haven't used Skype on my Phone ever and I haven't used it on my MacBook since I got the X1. Chatting with family interstate with the whole family around the lounge is so much easier than crowding around a laptop on the kitchen Bench. Also snapping Skype
now and and chatting with a friend while I still play a game can't be done on my other to devices. But I can see that is not for everyone. I even enjoy the Auto sign in from Kinect recognition amongst the family.

 

I will be playing far more Dance Central Spotlight than Destiny this coming September...

 

I can't Dance to save my life but i know many that look forward t this game.

The kinect is cool, but it was successfully scraped by all the people who didn't own one and the tin hat trolls. I wanted to see what they had planned to do with it, but that day will never come.....But I'll live.

Off topic: Okay, sure. I ONLY read the OPs opening remarks/link, and am
not here to "bash the X1." So don't pick me out to have a confrontation with in order to try and close down this, nor any other thread. For you
ALL know I will defend my thoughts/opinions till my dying day!

Still off Topic a might: The Kinect, is a wonderful tool. I bought one (360 version) just for my crippled child to use, in order to try and get him motivated to play games with physical movement involved. Didn't work. Kinect,
no matter what you do, nor the expense you fork over in order to try to do it, want recognize people in Wheelchairs, nor those who only has the use of only one arm.

On Topic: MS had big plans for version 2 of the Kinect. Who can blame them!

Yet the way things worked out was they realized too late, that the X1 (Not a bash) couldn't - in essence - Walk and chew bubblegum at the same time, for extended periods of time. "Time Slice" - Thus in order to appease those (I'll say majority) gamers who
wanted the best visuals/frame rates possible, MS decided to go kinectless, which they made clear even before "Day One" that they would not do, and yet contrary to "popular thinking"/Marketing - in so doing did sell more consoles.

Another reason. America's/Other countries spying on their Citizens through an "always on" in home tech gadget. No-one wanted that after seeing/reading what the NSA did. Not to mention that We ALL HATE tracking cookies which generates the majority of SPAM
in our inboxes. GRRR! So an "always on" camera would generate even more SPAM.

Yet I am sure that IF MS would address these issues, then more kinect eq X1's would be sold, which in turn would generate more Kinect titles 2B developed.

Yet how best to do it?

1st - Get shed of AMD altogether, and then perhaps the Kinect/Kinectless X1 consoles WOULD be able to actually "walk and chew gum at the same time."

2nd - Less Goberment means more FREEDOM, thus ANY tech purchaesed for the home/personal use/enjoyment should NOT, neither automatically, nor otherwise. Allow the goberment any right's WHATSOEVER to use said tech to spy on it's Citizens.

3rd - MAKE THE ENTIRE CONSOLE, KINECT INCLUDED. HANDICAPPED USABLE. - It PO'd me big time when XBCS said. "WE don't allow 3rd party.." - After I bought a USB flight stick for a one armed kid to be able to at lest somewhat control games like Halo 3. - As
dad. I don't want to pay 100's - 1,000's for a special modified 360 controller. So the more people who could benefit from the Kinect the better!

 

Going Kinectless didn't provide better visuals or Framerates.

 

Electro, some points I'd like to address:

- I believe that the Xbox One Kinect is hand-capable in a sitting position (I had also heard that the 360 version was supposed to be updated to allow for it, but don't know if it actually happened or fell through).

- Referring to the government is technically off-topic; also no government does NOT equal freedom; it may, in fact, equal chaos instead (a balance is best, IMO).

- People are paranoid and let current events affect them too much. The Kinect does NOT spy on you in any way, shape, or form. The ignorance of the public as a result of that belief has unfortunately hurt sales (you're right about that).

get around it? - Sure it does!
