Arcade Games: What have I missed

I first arrived on this site at the back of 2007. Even back then they couldn't figure out how to install an edit post, ah well.

Managed to download the demo for State of Decay. Controls were nice and fluid and the hacking up felt nice. The jumping over pretty much anything any paying the cost later was fun also. But what I really wanted was to try a vehicle. All these open world
games that feature driving do it so badly when compared to the efforts of Rockstar, and bad driving on a huge map is a big no-no for me. Its less than a fiver so I will get it, but I think I'll keep it at the back of the pile and hope to see a DLC price reduction
too.

Seems strange seeing so many achievements on an arcade title.

Battlefield 1943 even though you hate multiplayer...

 

I won't touch it mate. Multiplayer is good for maybe 2-3 goes at most. After that its just the same kack go after go. The final straw for me was Mass Effect 3. People raved and raved at how amazing it was, yet it was one mode and only one mode. After that
I decided enough was enough and left multiplayer to people who crave repetition.

At least with SP you have a story and targets to achieve. Anyway..

I might get the Monkey Island games, but my guts tells me to leave those as fond memories.

 

State of Decay is a must. I still play many many many hours on that game. To add to it check out Breakdown ( second DLC to SoD).

Valiant Hearts and Brothers a Tale of Two Sons are both great arcade games released in recent years.

 

^^ I bought Valiant Hearts in the Black Friday sale. I'm glad somebody mentioned it. Looking forward to playing it. =)

 

I will have to try Valiant Hearts after Christmas time. I lose my internet and phone after midnight and my new ISP doesn't connect until mid December.

Gonna have to leave the arcade titles alone and concentrate on getting patches and updates for some of my games. Don't want to be stuck offline with a tonne of broken games now eh.

Iron Brigade was really fun.

 

State of Decay is awesome, but I was gonna recommend Trine 2. Good controls graphics and music. It's a fun game.

 

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was an excellent Arcade game. I really enjoyed it. I got it in a previous sale (hadn't really heard of it before that) and I believe it's on sale now again with Black Friday.

 

Battleblock Theater was addicting for me! Still replay it.

And to me Deadlight was the worst game I've ever played. Terrible! I didn't think it looked all that good either, it was ok looking. But everyone says its "visually stunning." maybe I don't care about looks so much as the game play...

 

^^ Really, dude? C'mon man. You have Scourge: Outbreak on your card and you've 100%'d Deadlight. But Deadlight is the 'worst game [you've] ever played'?

Being an old-school gamer, I generally like games that were in the arcade. Here's some of the games that were on the 360, before getting de-listed:

Double Dragon (Needs to come back)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Needs to come back)

Defender, Smash TV, along with any other Midway title

At least those were the big ones taken off the marketplace.

I'm not sure if it's still available, but The Gameroom was a cool app. It had Arcade, Atari 2600, Colecovision, and Konami game available to download and place in a virtual arcade. And you could play them..

P.S. If yoy like pinball, you missed the Pinball Arcade , which has recreations of actual pinball machines of the 60's - 80's. It's been delisted but is supposed to make a comeback sometime soon.

And a second pinball game is available - Pinball FX2.
