ARC Invite friend to game

Ive been playing ARC with my nephew for almost a month now. I have not had any issues starting a party or invite friend to game. 2 days ago when i went to invite him to the game its greyed out. We unplugged the internet and the xbox and then it worked.
But now ive had to do it twice. We checked the nat and internet settings nothing has changed. Any ideas

Hello,

The issue you may be having could be an issue detecting that you are in a game. When it happens, it may be a good idea to either back out of the saved game or restart the game by opening your Xbox guide, go to the game, press the select button on your controller
(button with 3 lines on it) and press quit. Hopefully this helps and you can continue playing arc with your nephew! Thanks.

I think it's different for different games. It's not as easy as it used to be in my opinion. What game are you trying to invite people to? I know I had a hard time with Forza until I realized you hit the menu button while in the circuit select screen.

Thank you, turns out my Gold subscription had expired. I dont know why it asked me to buy ultimate and didnt tell me to buy xbox gold.

As Scratch says, it seems to vary from game to game. For Battlefield 4, you need to start a party and invite friends. If they're also in Battlefield 4 (in which case it becomes a Battlefield 4 party), when you join a game, it'll bring your party with you.
If party members are in existing games/lobbies, a pop-up notifies you that the party leader/member is joining a match and gives you an option to join with them.

That's great news, we were able to get into the issue and you're welcome.

It should give you two options, to buy an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
