April Update: Voice messages are coming

@ goat.... There Is not a single person that can not say Xbox One left us wanting more. Especially considering that the Xbox 360 was a great piece of hardware. However, it has evolved in fantastic fashion. However, the successor should always release
with everything that made the predecessor great. Voice Messages being 1 of them.

I personally feel this didn't happen because the Xbox One was not a finished product when it was released. And the Xbox Team had to do some backtracking. In this case 2 steps back 1 step forward. Now almost 17 months in, we clearly have a great machine
that will continue to evolve just like its predecessor did.

 

I do feel they have kept some features back just so they can do these monthly updates I don't use them or like them but voice message custom backgrounds and custom soundtrack should have been day one

 

That is an interesting thought @ cheesy. I think it was quite the opposite. I believe the Xbox One was still a work in progress, and when the competition revealed their controller Xbox One was then in hurry up mode. They did not want to release the
console to far behind the competition. I believe my theory to be true considering the sporadic release dates for different regions and frequent updates for features. While the 360 was updated often, and evolved far more than the competition, I don't believe
monthly updates was in the planner

 

NxtDoc I totally agree, it definitely wasn't finished. I have said on here before that it's MS and Sony's fault, they were so busy tripping over eachother to beat the other one out the gate, they had to cut some giant corners.

 

May be in just a suspicious person I do think it was rushed out I do believe if Sony hadn't had there's ready we wouldn't be seeing it till this year

 

This i believe is true Cheesy. I think it should of been released inline with Windows 10.

 

I can see that cheesy. Personally, I don't think the 8th Gen should have released until mid to late 2014. However, I don't know the back room politics and what is going on. With that said, it has been very fun watching, and briefly helping the Xbox One
grow. But I still stand that Voice Messages should have been Day One

 

We are all entitled to an opinion, this is mine. No my world did not end on the 360 when I couldn't respond to a VM left for me via Xbox.com but it did make it practically worthless responding 6 days later when I returned to the console. Most of the time
before the threaded messages responding to a text message 6 days later would often end in " lol what message did I send you again?"

Voice messages will be quite useful if available on all devices, but they are not and until then I should be able to choose which I prefer to Recieve.

 

I think I'm indifferent at this point. I don't listen to VMs on my phone so generally I don't listen to them on XBL either. I just prefer text. It's easier for me to respond to. Also I'm lazy.

 

You can try giving them your phone number, you for sure can leave voice messages that way! ;D But it's your Telco company like Spark or Vodafone or whoever you are with that does it, not Microsoft. My Samsung S5 runs on android kitkat not a Microsoft OS.

Then again I would only give my number to CLOSE friends I got on with well, who LIVED in the same city as me and we meet up, not just "online". One of my NZ Xbox friends lol asked me for my number. Even though me and him get on well and we live in the same
country even, I held back, he lives in a small south island town.
