Voice messaging is a staple of Xbox Live. Glad it's back.

 

Geek, the problem with you and voice messages is that you send a ton of them and I dunno about you but I like my messages spam free. Maybe it's the anti social part of me but I don't get the whole having 100 friends and 1000 followers on Twitter or whatever
social media crap is spewing out. I just like having my small circle of close friends. When I used to have you as a friend on 360, you would send M2AF everyday I swear. It was like you just have to tell us what you're doing every minute of everyday. M2AF:
I'm currently pooping on the toilet. I feel like you would have sent that next so I finally deleted you cause it just got annoying seeing Galactic Geek sent you a message.

Now with that aside, I don't really care about voice messages. Will I use it? Sure, but not often. It's just going to create more useless spam from people. Who knows? Maybe people will be like follow me I'll follow you back I need more followers bs. Just
me hating on social media but that's pretty much what Xbox has become with its follower system. Maybe we don't experience it but I bet there's people desperate for that kind of attention and with voice messages, they can easily ask someone to follow them or
annoy them.

And at Doc, don't be sending more creepy messages. Just seeing you post that smiley face makes me cringe.

@GhostRider...there has always been (in this forum at least) a group for and a group against VM...so not sure where the "people complain it is not there and same people complain when it is coming" bit comes from, maybe you are new here?

I am fine with it, just give me the option to completely turn the functionality off, and no, individiual blocking is not the same thing, I want an on/off switch...

 

Yea the consensus has generally been divided in here. I used to have a line in my profile on 360 that asked not to send VM. That of course invited more VMs -_-

 

@ Defy, you are a rude kid. I've never sent you a creepy message. In fact, don't think I've ever sent you a message at all. But your girlfriend is a friend of mine. Live with it.

Anyway, back on topic.

For those that don't like voice messaging. If someone sends you a message, just don't listen to it. If it's a trusted friend, tell him/her to type it out instead - going forward.

 

You see GG ill delete any voice message i get unless i know the person IRL like my best mate. on the 360 i deleted 95percent of voice messages

 

I will listen to them simply because some are worth it. I have had random ones telling me "good game" or "thanks for playing" . Those to me are worth it. Now the ones that are telling me what they did to my mom last night are the ones that I will report
and block.

 

@Burnin, I've been here for a while but mostly just reading. I do agree with you on being able to turn it on and off. I'm sure that's how it will be released (I hope)

Awesome! It's about time for this. My message sending / receiving will be 10X simpler and easier. No pecking around with a virtually useless on-screen KB for 5 minutes just to type 10 words and no more juggling a controller and a smart phone to use PITAglass.

 

Defy, while I will not deny that I sent a lot of messages back in the day, I want you to know that I don't do that anymore because I don't have to - the activity feed can be used for that kind of stuff now. So, you've got nothing to worry about from me (at
least not anymore)!
