They can't release a Sky app because if they do then they could get sued by 3/4 of the gamers that purchased the Xbox One.

First they have to secure permissions from all the major Digital set top companys to allow their boxes to port through the HDMI In port to be controlled by Kinect on the One guide. This is a feature that they advertised heavily as a selling point in the
all round entertainment system Xbox One. Unfortunately because they rushed out the console to complete with Sony, they never secured agreements. As such if they were to put up a Sky app on the One Store. Everyone with Virgin, BT etc would be within their rights
to sue Microsoft. I certainly would as the only reason I agreed to pay £120 more than my friends in the U.S was because Microsoft were selling it as more than a games console.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Turn on your Xbox 360 and select the Xbox One tile. Bear in mind that you are on a UK exclusive dashboard tailored to UK customers, just like the U.S have their own dashboard and the French have theirs etc etc. In that
Xbox One tile watch the video about how the One revolutionises how you watch TV. It's a major selling point. A feature that is unavailable to 100% of the people who saw that video. So legally I would think that Microsoft don't have a leg to stand on. Legally
they're fine, uploading that video to the U.S dashboard because the feature is available in the U.S. Arguably you could say that legally they'd be ok if they uploaded it to the UK dashboard if it was only available to say half the people that viewed it but
to say that legally they're covered in lying to 100% (everybody) in the UK that watched the promotional video. Well that's just silly my friend.

They had full knowledge that the feature wouldn't be available in the UK. They control the content that gets uploaded to Country specific dashboards. Ergo they are in a very actionable position as it can be strongly argued that they took liberties in adding
non existent selling points to a product in order to increase the number of units sold.

Of course they can show it, it's a feature of the console and is available. The fact that it might not be available in any particular region is what is commonly known as a "minor technicality", doesn't make it non-factual.

I've worked with corporate legal teams and believe me, they've got this one covered.

You're right, they can show it, at their own peril. You're wrong, it's not a Feature of the Console. It's one of the Major Features of the All Around Entertainment System. Microsoft don't see it as a games console. They marketed it as an all around entertainment
system. It's how they justified the huge price tag. Again you're wrong, the fact that Microsoft advertised a fully working, major feature of their all around entertainment system on an exclusive platform without securing the rights to operate the feature in
that market is not a "minor technicality" but a "major oversight" and any cockamamie cooperate legal team that tried to argue differently would be living in cloud cuckoo land. Microsoft gambled that they're such a huge company they'd get the rights easily.
Typical American arrogance blowing up in their faces yet again.

Personally I'm glad they're dragging their heels. Every time a console bundle is released at a cheaper price I take mine back to the store for a full refund as a damaged product and then buy another one at the cheaper price. I'll be encouraging all my friends
to do the same because legally our consumer rights are protected against this kind of behaviour from companies. If they can't provide the product working as advertised within a timely fashion the consumer is entitled to a full refund as the system cannot be
sent away for repair because the fault is not a hardware or software issue but a licence issue. I already did it once with the Titanfall Edition. I got a new console for less money with a game thrown in free. I'll continue to do it every time a cheaper bundle
comes out until Microsoft fix it, and there's nothing to stop me because my consumer rights are protected. In my opinion Microsoft Xbox have shown contempt to their customer base outside of their domestic market and I'm fully prepared to do everything within
my rights to recover my costs. I'm sure that I'm not alone in this so not resolving this issue is already costing them money. The longer they take the more I get back.

  10. So you are committing fraud by falsely returning consoles that aren't broken and claiming they are?

    Well done you....

Actually Ganjaff you will find that they are protected due to the small print in all their adverts also as you are aware that the feature is not yet and using this to obtain refunds to your financial gain (use of a product then a full refund before buying
the same product) means that you are committing fraud and any legal team worth half a damn could have you up for criminal charges and also paying hefty legal fees.

Your also wrong in stating that 100% of people cannot get this feature as some "select" users have been trialling it for some time with more recently added with the last update.

Apps soon to launch on XBox One

ok guys, those that are having a pop at Microsoft regarding apps that are not currently available on the xbox one.

All apps for any console are developed by the company the app is for. For example, Netflix is developed by Netflix (or third party on their behalf).

Now TV is in development but I believe it has been delayed till summer 2014 as is the same for BBC iplayer.

this is what Sky have to say about their app:

    "Hello everyone,

You will have noticed that we currently do not support the Xbox One with Sky Go

We are still looking to extend the distribution of Sky Go, but our main focus is on supporting tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices, as the majority of our 3m+ Sky Go customers can already access Sky content on their TV through their Sky+ HD box.

In addition, developing an app for Xbox One requires a completely new and separate development to the apps we have in market, including the Xbox 360 app. We will continue to review the benefit of creating an App for Xbox One as we do for other new platforms
    for Sky Go

    Thanks

    Sam

    Community Manager (Apps & Online)"

(source link: Sky Go on Xbox One - Sky Community)

Microsoft have no control over the development times (with exception of the quality control just prior to launch) these third party companies take to develop their apps and I suspect that they are just as frustrated as us gamers with the delays.

Please be patient and check with the relevant companies regarding their apps.

In the meantime....... Happy gaming Apps soon to launch on XBox One :)
