    Apps/Games won't start sometimes when system running in "Instant On" mode.


    If I leave my Xbox One configured for "Instant On" mode than about once or twice a week I'll start it up and the apps won't load -- not even a splash screen.

    To fix the issue, I completely power down the system by either pressing and holding the front power button until it shuts down or unplugging the system.

    If I leave the system in "Energy Saving" mode this does not seem to happen.

    Is this a known issue? Any suggestions on things to do/try?

    No downloads in Instant On Mode

    Hi there, I've just bought a new Advanced Warfare Special Edition XBOX One and have been trying to download games since last night. This is my second XONE. On my previous console I could download games by putting it on standby, on instant on mode. However,
    on my new console, when I start a game download and then turn off the console (still in instant on mode), the download stops. I've checked the box that says "download updates automatically". I've also unchecked the box which says "turn off storage when console
    is off" but nothing seems to work. The console just won't download any game when the console is turned off in instant on mode. Even the light on the charger is bright white, suggesting that instant on mode is indeed working. I've even set this console as my
    home console. Please help.

    My game closed when in standby mode

    So, even in "Instant-on" mode, when my Xbox gets updated, the game still will be closed, right?

    Hi,

    Totally normal. The fan will be running you just won't hear it. When running instant on your console is in low power mode, it's still on. If it does game or system updates it will get warmer.

    I have my console set to energy saving mode, mainly because instant on sometimes gave me issues staring games and apps.

    Also, and this is VERY IMPORTANT, when you finish with a game or app, make sure you press the start button and select 'quit' from the pop up menu when you return to the home screen. If you don't, you will notice slow downs/glitches and generally an unsatisfactory
    experience.

    This, I think is the cause of a lot of peoples problems with the Xbox One. It's the same when you snap an app. That app will continue to run after you finished with it and unsnapped it.

    Start up errors... again

    Hold the power button on the console until it turns off. After that, turn it back on and see if the problem has been fixed.

    If you are using Instant-On mode, then the system may need to get restarted every now and then basically to clean the cache.

    Another tip is to quit games and apps when you are done with them instead of having the run in the background.

    Press the start / menu button, then select quit.

    Happens when the console is "off" but in instant on mode sometimes. I've seen a solution to run it in energy savings mode.
    Also try disabling background updates as well. This has fixed it for some people from what I've read.

    Finally picked up the xbox one

    Hey... congrats.

    1) progress.... go to game and apps. You will see progress there

    2) in settings go to power and start up and choose power mode - instant on. that allows for you to turn xbox on via voice commands and allows system downloads to happen when you are off.
