Apple goes to war with Xbox gaming industry

The same thing happened many times even with smaller effects changing the Industry. NES and Master were getting stale and complacent and NEC came along with PC Engine (aka TG16). This forced the SNES and Genesis and the beginning of the 16bit era. Again both
Neo Geo and 3DO made Consoles that would destroy in terms of raw power but died off in the ever changing world of Gaming. It goes on and on.

The Gaming Market or Industry is not as fragile as many want others to believe. It does not also solely rest on the shoulders of MS and Sony. It might even need a little shake up every now and then. Who knows, MS fails and Samsung of all people come into the
game. Maybe Sony fails and Apple decides to try their hand again. There's plenty of Companies with Capital, just because they don't participate in the Gaming Industry now doesn't mean they will never try. Don't be shocked in the future when EXXON has a Gaming
Console.

I would love to see a World War 2 game again, right now the industry thinks near future/future themed games are the big thing now.

it's actually the opposite of Apple. Apple will charge you an amount of money so that they make a large profit on the purchase of your device. They make a profit on everything they sell, before you purchase any software.

Xbox is sold under manufacturing cost. In order to make up for this deficit, that's why you have to buy games through the Xbox store, and only use licensed peripherals

Limiting connections to secure digital is, as I said a decision. by the entire consumer electronics industry. You'll find this to be the case on virtually every form of mainstream consumer electronics.

High quality audio has large bandwidth requirements and sustained throughout that requires at leadas well.

I think the question you need to ask yourself is why the DAC manufacturers refuse to use HDMI like everyone else. It's been standard industry wide for 20 years.
